Throwback! SDCC! Meeting Marvel Stars Hugo Weaving! Chris Hemsworth! Chris Evans! Natalie Portman! Tom Hiddleston! Big Bang Theory!

I know that SDCC has gone virtual this year thanks to COVID19. So, today I thought I would share some of the fun moments from SDCC’s past. 🙁 I know next year will be even better! This is one of my favorite days! Check it out below!

Saturday… This is the most chaotic day ever! So much to do, so much to see, so many signings to get into… sigh… So, I’m going to try and get into the Let Me In Signing with is a wristband signing and then head down to Marvel where they are doing signings with the casts of Thor and Captain America …. Yeah, good luck with that… That’s what I’ve been telling myself… Well, you never know right? Right? Right….? Not with my luck this year… Well, let’s just see how this turns out…

5:30 a.m. – I just got up and got coffee… I’m tired and I don’t want to write…

6:45 a.m. – I just parked and I’m heading into line. I hear my name being called… Oh my God it’s Erica and her sisters… lol… I can’t believe I spotted them in all this craziness… Okay!

7: 01 a.m. – Erica and Linda are staying in line to get into the main hall while Fifi and I try for the wristband signing for Let Me In… Did I mention I’m tired?

7: 12 a.m. – I see the line forming for the signing… Ugh, it’s so long… dammit!

7:21 a.m. – Fifi and I are in line, I’m half asleep… Tired…. Need… Coke Zero…

7:36 a.m. – Finally it’s our turn to draw… Fifi gets a ticket… Yay, she always gets it! Lol… I’m next….and… I got it too! YAY! Well, this is a good start to the day!

7:46 a.m. – Fifi is heading back to let Erica here so she can pull for Resident Evil 3… Or 3D or whatever number they are up to now… I would love to see Erica with her Resident Evil one sheet framed on her wall… lol… That’s funny.

8:05 a.m. – and speaking of the devil, there’s Erica always perky in the morning… Yes, she is always perky in the morning… at least compared to me… I would like to kill a small woodland creature…

8:21 a.m. – Okay finally we get to pull…. Erica gets it! Of course she does… I on the other hand got a rock. Dammit! No Milla for me…

8:26 a.m. – I’m back in line… And… they are out of tickets… dammit!

8:45 a.m. – So, I’m now chilling in line with the three lovely sisters… The plan now is to head to Marvel and see how their signings are working…

9: 05 a.m. – We are lining up to go in… My WB bag broke… great… sigh… I have been using my Green Hornet bag but it’s cumbersome and not sturdy… Sadness…

9: 10 a.m. – And here we go… Everyone goes sprinting for the Marvel booth… The sisters… they are gone! And I mean gone… damn…

9:13 a.m. – I’m at Marvel and in line… The line is wrapping the booth… ugh… Maybe I should cut my losses and go to FOX… Ugh…

9:21 a.m. – Okay, so we are about to go in. This is a drawing you get to pick a card. If you don’t win you get a signed comic card, if you win you get to go to one of the signings.

9:23 a.m. – Linda got the Kenneth Branagh signing, the one that Erica wanted. Fifi got the Captain America signing with Hugo Weaving and Chris Evans… the one that I wanted… Erica and I… We got rocks… DAMMIT!

9:25 a.m. – We tried to get back in line but then they capped the line… ugh… Pisses me off…

9:28 a.m. – Okay, they are letting more people in the line, and we’re getting another try… the guy at the booth is semi flirting with me and commenting on my Thundercats shirt… LOL, for the love of Thundercats…

9:31 a.m. – Erica drew and got the Captain America cast… The one I wanted… Sigh…

9:32 a.m. – It’s my turn and I get… The Thor cast! Well hey that’s something right? Cool! I’m excited… Not as excited as I would be for Chris Evans… but still… It’s something…

9:38 a.m. – There are still a lot of tickets to go around. This is the most orderly signing or ticket drawing I have ever seen! Damn!

9:41 a.m. – Okay going back again… Crossing my fingers… Erica got a rock… I got… the Captain America signing! YAY!

9:46 a.m. – Erica is pacing around and going to try and go back for the Kenneth Branagh signing…

10: 01 a.m. – I’m heading over to the WB booth to check on that crap for today… ugh…

10:32 a.m. – I’m already bushed… ugh… I’m going to head up to the Let Me In signing in a minute, but I need to circle the Showtime booth and get some swag… did I mention I love that free crap?

10:48 a.m. – Okay up in line for the Let Me In signing… Fifi and I are waiting…

11:00 a.m. – Erica just texted me. Natalie Portman, one of my most wanted is doing a rare signing today for some movie called Hesher…

11: 06 a.m. – I’m dieing a little. Just a little… ugh…

11:11 a.m. – Okay Erica said it’s a trivia thing, where you have to watch this preview, and then answer a trivia question about the preview… then they give out like 20 tickets an hour… who has time for that shit! Ugh!

11:30 a.m. – This signing needs to start so I can get to Marvel do the Thor signing, and then figure out what the hell is going on with Natalie Portman…

11:59 a.m. – This is supposed to start at noon … they are late… ugh…

12: 01 p.m. – Okay, we just got in, it’s Richard Jenkins, Chloe from Kick Ass, another kid and the director. I really want Let Me In to be good so I have high hopes for this and the poster looks kick ass! Yay, I’m really glad I got this…

12: 07 p.m. – No time for excitement, Fifi and I have to get to the Thor signing… like now!

12:13 p.m. – Whew… Okay, we’re in line… Damn this day is long…

12:18 p.m. – I just called my friend Scott for Natalie Portman reinforcements… He’s heading over there…

12:24 p.m. – Our line is moving… I can see Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston…

12:25 p.m. – Wow, Chris Hemsworth is a massive MASSIVE man. Damn… Okay, he’s Thor that works!

12:32 p.m. – Oh my God, Chris Hemsworth is the nicest guy ever. I mean like super nice. Crazy. They signed a preproduction art poster that featured Thor and Lokie in battle. Pretty cool man…

12:38 p.m. – I just got a call from Scott who can’t find the Natalie Portman signing… Sigh…

12:45 p.m. – I just ran into Scott and showed him where the booth was. I’m going to try and meet up with Erica so we can line up for Captain America.

12:57 p.m. – I just saw the large power walker thing from Avatar… Very cool.

1:03 p.m. – My phone is ringing… It’s Scott; he got me a Natalie Portman signing ticket! Dude, so stoked! He said, “So, I had to watch this preview and then they picked like 15 of us and asked a question about the preview. They had some really random questions, and mine was… What color was the hoodie the guy was wearing? I said, you have to be more specific because there were three hoodies, a grey one, a black one and a red one. Then the guy just said here. And handed me a ticket!”

1:08 p.m. – Wow, That would have driven me insane!

1:17 p.m. – Oh there’s Erica! The line for Captain America hasn’t started yet. We are going to loop the Showtime booth for another swag round.

1:29 p.m. – Okay, heading in for Captain America we’re pretty close to the front which is good because I have to head right after this to Portman… Dude, NATALIE PORTMAN signing… Like really? Crazy…

1:39 p.m. – They have the Captain America shield on display as well. I love seeing the props from the film.

1:54 p.m. – I know a lot of people don’t go as crazy as I do at the Con but you know what, it’s once a year and you have to get shit done!

2:04 p.m. – Oh, it looks like the line is starting… It’s always crazy to me that Hugo Weaving was in so many iconic trilogies… The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, and now Captain America… Interesting…

2:06 p.m. – Erica is taking photos like mad…

2:08 p.m. – We’re almost up now… Good times…

2:11 p.m. – The posters are more of the concept artwork… Still pretty cool…

2:15 p.m. – Hugo Weaving is signing everything that is put in front of him. I mean he’s so nice. I heard he wasn’t that nice in “regular” settings so it’s great that he’s being cool here…

2:16 p.m. – Okay we are up next. Erica gets Hugo on her Lord Of The Rings book and then says hi to Chris. I asked Hugo Weaving to sign my Lord Of The Rings poster and said, “I’ll be happy to sign it!” Very nice… Chris Evans… I dunno… He seemed kinda like an ass… I call it like I see it, you know… really… Push wasn’t exactly cinematic genius brother!


2:19 p.m. – Now, I’m heading over to Natalie Portman… I have no idea how this is going to be so I want to make sure I get my spot.

2:22 p.m. – I think there were 150 tickets given out. I found the line… They keep moving us around a lot… but oh well…

2:26 p.m. – I’m shocked that they are doing a signing like this on the floor. I can only imagine what people will do when they come face to face with Queen Amadala herself! lol…

2:34 p.m. – I’m nervous… I mean Natalie Portman… God, I just wish I could get something from V For Vendetta signed… I love that movie!

2:47 p.m. – We are now corralled into a pen… lol… well… not really a pen, but security is really policing us, which is pretty cool.

2:56 p.m. – Oh, the Queen is coming… She’s walking in… I’m trying to snap photos… but I can’t seem to even see her. lol…

3:05 p.m. – She is up on top of the booth. Wow, still can’t get a photo to save my life. lol…

3:11 p.m. – They keep moving us… Wow, I can feel my blood pressure rising…

3:15 p.m. – Next to the booth now… They are really whipping through this line…

3:18 p.m. – The security guard is yelling at me… Put the camera away, put it away… I’m like dude, it’s powering down, It’s powering down… It won’t go faster… I must have sounded like a freak cause security started laughing… lol…

3:19 p.m. – Wow, there she is. The rare sight of Natalie Portman with a pen in her hand is something to behold. Natalie isn’t really interacting, but the interesting thing is that the posters were presigned by the creators who were sitting next to her… But I think that the line wouldn’t go in that far cause it’s a tight fit. I did say to Natalie Portman, “I have to tell you…” And she looked up… Not stopping her signing… but looking up… “V For Vendetta is my favorite movie, and I thought you were amazing.” She said, “Thank you so much for that.” Then I turned to leave, and she said, “No really, thank you for that.” And she smiled… OH MY GOD! A nice fan encounter with Natalie Portman… I’m like… Dazed… I might fall off the steps…

3:22 p.m. – Of course the poster is a giant middle finger, which I suspect is what Natalie Portman really thinks of her fans. However, I am going to treasure this moment…

3:28 p.m. – Running to the Warner Bros booth for the Human Target signing… lol… No rest for the wicked…

3:30 p.m. – I have to admit I haven’t really checked out this show but I’ve heard good things, and I figure it won’t be that crazy for it so it’s worth a shot. This year the WB and I are not friends… Ugh…

3:35 p.m. – Yay, I got in. Scott just called and he wants to get food… He was like, where are you… I was like, the Human Target signing… I could almost hear him rolling his eyes on the other end of the phone…

3:41 p.m. – I think after this though I might need a rest. I’m getting too old for this shit.

3:53 p.m. – I’m getting up there in line… Oh no, the WB host is in front of me and is interviewing the stars… which means I have face time with everyone… Great now they are going to chat with me and I’m going to have nothing to say…

4:12 p.m. – I’m done, not as painful as I thought… lol…

4:32 p.m. – I met up with Erica and Scott. Erica has her Resident Evil signing… So, Scott and I are chatting and resting for a second while she goes in and meets the cast.

5:11 p.m. – I think I dozed off… there…

5:15 p.m. – Erica’s done and we’re going to leave a tad early to get a restaurant before the crowd pours out…

5:36 p.m. – Ohhh Chinese food… almost as good as salsa…

6:11 p.m. – My eyes are glazed over… I’m so tired…

6:15 p.m. – But there’s more to do! Scott went home and Erica and I went off to check on the Green Hornet exhibit. They set up a fake garage just like in the movie with all the cars outside…

6:18 p.m. – Oh the garage is closed… Ah well… We still took photos outside and talked to the security guard for a while…

6:34 p.m. – It’s really cool inside… grrr…

6:45 p.m. – Oh Flynn’s is closed as well… Bummer!

7:01 p.m. – We just got word that there was a stabbing in Hall H… Apparently, some dude got stabbed in the eye with a pen! Guys, I’m all about Fandom… BUT! Let’s keep some perspective!

7:36 p.m. – I dropped my bag oh crap off at the car and am walking back. There are a few parties Erica wants to check out…

8:01 p.m. – There are a few people milling about… Oh, there’s James Callis! Oh wait, isn’t that Thomas Jane holding court in the lobby. lol… There is an outdoor patio and Thomas Jane is literally holding these two people hostage. They look so scared as Thomas Jane is having a very animated conversation… it’s pretty funny…

8:22 p.m. – Oh crap there’s Johnny Galecki and Simon Helberg from The Big Bang Theory. I have my Big Bang Emmy diorama… and my Opposite of Sex poster as well… randomly… lol…

8:32 p.m. – Finally a few of us get Johnny’s attention and he comes over. So nice. He signs the diorama and grabs it from me. He’s like, “Who’s this?” pointing to Kaley Cuoco’s signature… He makes a motion like he’s going to cross it off… lol… Okay buddy… He then takes my diorama over to Simon who also signs it. That was pretty cool.

8:43 p.m. – Johnny Galecki is leaving and Erica takes my Opposite Of Sex poster and Johnny signed it as well. I think he was shocked to see The Opposite Of Sex poster at Comic Con! LOL…

8:54 p.m. – I spot James Callis who played Baltar on Battlestar Galactica… Thank God I have my Battlestar Poster on me….

9:22 p.m. – Finally James comes out and we yell for him. He walks over and says, “Are you calling me?” Erica was like yes! James is so nice and takes photos with both Erica and I and he signs my Battlestar Galactica poster. David Eick one of the producers of Battlestar Galactica.

9:23 p.m. – I asked David Eick to sign my Battlestar poster and he was like, “Not now… Just not now…’ Damn okay buddy. It’s always surprising when someone who’s a producer is like kinda mean… lol…

10:01 p.m. – Erica wants to hang out because some True Blood people are inside. I on the other hand want to sleep. lol… We can see Kristin Bauer and I think Joe Mangienello…

10:18 p.m. – Oh, I think that they are leaving the other way. Doh!

10:43 p.m. – Okay we are calling it. Good night and thanks for another Comic Con!
