TTM Tues! Successes From The Stars Of Grace and Frankie! Alien! Dynasty! Almost Famous! And More!

It’s TTM Tues! Woo to the hoo!

Remember, it’s the 4th of July here in the States, so there’s no mail on Thurs. Keep that in mind!

Now, I was talking to MTF contributor Jeremy and he’s going to help out with TTM Tues and he was nice enough to write a little something for us today.

I’ve been collecting autographs for over 20 years- there’s just nothing like getting an autograph from your favorite celebrity. I don’t live in LA or NY, so unless a celeb is coming through town, (Check out my ‘Schitt’s Creek’ recap) ttm is the way to go. When it comes to collecting ttm I don’t think there is an exact science to being successful- so much of it relies on luck and timing. And if there is one thing I have learned in this hobby- if at first they do not sign, try and try (and try and try and try) again.

I enjoy collecting through what’s called Via Venue: Trying to obtain an autograph from a temporary address like a movie set, a concert hall, stage theater, etc. In certain cases, this may be the only way to get an autograph, and I have found that many celebrities will take extra time for a personalized inscription. On the other hand, it is time consuming to research venue addresses, and the success rate isn’t (in my experience anyway) that high. But when it works- it really pays off!

Do your research: How long will they be at the venue? Does the venue accept and pass on fanmail? Have people had success in the past with the venue? You can find these answers at multiple sites including (my favorite) Startiger.com
Send a photo and a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE): Most celebs don’t carry photos when they are working on set, or at a venue, so always include one.
Write your name and address on the back of your photo: In a hurry, a celeb may shuffle photos around and forget who’s photo goes to whom. If your photo has your address on it, it takes away any confusion.
NEVER give up. I just got Kathryn Hahn’s autograph after MANY venue attempts. Not only did she sign my photo, she personalized it and thanked me for the note! On the other hand, I wrote to Elton John at 7 different venues on his recent tour hoping for one response to no avail. To quote Elton, “ I think it’s going to be a long, long time”.

Speaking of tenacity, I’ve tried every address I know of for my favorite character actress, Miram Flynn but I just can’t get a response! We are talking 20 years of trying (agents, managers, movie sets). She is my #1 most wanted. Oh well, I will just keep trying. Until next time- good luck and may your graphs be plentiful
