TV Heartbeat! The Walking Dead Valentine’s Day! Hamilton on the Grammys!
While the Super Bowl is finally over, there’s still a lot of big TV this week!
There’s lots of death and mayhem to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year! The Walking Dead is back for the second half of the season. As always, there’s a marathon (starting Thursday) to get you back in the mood.
El Rey is also, er, celebrating Valentine’s Day with their Rip Your Heart Out marathon of horror movies hosted by Robert Englund. Who says romance is dead?
Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger are making a TV show with Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde and Ray Romano. (Seriously.) HBO is hoping for another prestige hit with Vinyl, a look at the music scene in 1970’s New York. Punk, disco and hip-hop for everyone!
Adele: Live in London features the songstress singing (duh), but there’s more to this special hosted by Graham Norton…like footage of her going undercover to audition to be an Adele impersonator.
Adele, presumingly the real one, will also be at The Grammys. Hosted by LL Cool J, the Grammys has its normal mix of mashup performances. Pitbull will be with Travis Barker, Robin Thicke and “surprise guests.” The Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp, yeah that Johnny Depp) will make their TV debut and so will the Biebs with Diplo and Skrillex. Lady Gaga will be doing a tribute to David Bowie and Chris Stapleton, Gary Clark Jr and Bonnie Raitt will be honoring BB King. Also look for Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Sam Hunt, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd.
The Grammys will be featuring a Broadway show for the first time in forever. Of course it’s Hamilton, the sensation that everyone is talking about. This show lives up to its enormous hype so DO NOT MISS the performance of the opening number. Seriously. The best rap you will ever hear from our founding fathers.
Major Crimes returns with a major story – the show will focus on one case for the next 5 episodes.
The Westminster Kennel Club Show is back. It’s always worth watching this doggie beauty pageant just to see the Pekinese rolling gait as it waddles down the runway.
Better Call Saul is back on AMC. The Returned is back, but not on A&E. Netflix saved this show so binge the season next week.
Bitten is back for its third and final season. The cast is hoping that fan support might open up the opportunity for another season so tune in and tweet if you want to save this show.
Hulu is going big on 11.22.63, an event series based on the Stephen King novel and produced by JJ Abrams. James Franco plays Jake Epping who has the chance to go back in time and stop the assassination of JFK. (Franco also directed an episode.) The starry cast also includes Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, Lucy Fry and Cherry Jones.

In case these shows aren’t on your radar already, here are a couple of shows that are only a few episodes in so you can binge and catch up quite quickly.
The Magicians (Syfy) is a look at what life would be like if magic was real in modern New York. Fun, stylish with lots of creative ideas, this one is worth catching up and watching. Syfy also thinks so and ordered a second season of the show.
For more magic, but somewhere in the very distant future, check out The Shannara Chronicles for an adventure with humans, elves and evil demons. MTV is going all out on this one so don’t miss it.
London Spy isn’t the show you may think it is. The first episode is a lovely love story between Danny (Ben Wishaw aka the new Q from the James Bond movies) and Alex (Edward Holcroft from Kingsman and Wolf Hall). When Alex goes missing, Danny learns that Alex may have kept a few secrets from him. (Understatement.) This isn’t an action series, but a careful peeling of the different layers as Danny, guided by his friend Scottie (Jim Broadbent), slowly learns who Alex really was. Totally engrossing make sure you check out this show as well.
Stay tuned!
