Box Office Breakdown! Divergent Scores! Muppets Isn’t Most Wanted! 300 Is Still Slaying!
Divergent reigned supreme with an opening $56 million for the top spot. With a modest budget of $85 million, Lionsgate should get to work on the sequels.
Muppets Most Wanted failed to meet expectations with $16.5 million in the number two spot.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman took in another $11.7 million in the number three spot.
The sexy Spartans of 300: Rise of An Empire came in at number four with $8.6 million. Its $93 million domestic total is still shy of recouping its $110 million budget.
The indie flick God’s Not Dead, which came out of nowhere, also came in at number five with $8.5 million.
Need for Speed got a flat tire and dropped down to number six with $7.7 million. With a budget of $66 million, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Need for Speed 2.
The Grand Budapest Hotel climbed up a spot to number seven. Never underestimate the power of Wes Anderson fans.
Non-Stop got some air at number eight with $6.3 million to add to its domestic total of $78 million.
The LEGO Movie heroes stuck together at number nine with $4.1 million.
Rounding out the top ten was Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club with $3.1 million.

Next week it’s Arnold Schwarzenegger versus Russell Crowe. The action thriller Sabotage opens against the epic biblical tale Noah. I’ll put my money on ol’ Rusty any day of the week.

I have learned that this Bono, while he wanted to play the benefit for me to see Suddenly Susan, my so called friends have said to him no, I am undeserving. And while I know that I am deserving, I feel so all alone now. Oh Susan, how I wish the villagers could sing about our friendship and do that dance we long aspire to sing.

Oh the song that will be sung forever. I went to the white witch and she refused to knit me a poncho, so how will I cover up the turkey? How… It’s just horrible. No friends, no turkey and Suddenly Susan… How will I deliver all the work? I have so much Work….
And Susan, The Frenchman… I’m so tired of hearing me complain, the lanky one this, and the lanky one that. Oh just stop. You traveled to another dimension with your slimy armpit hair and you still aren’t happy. Well… I have no use for you. Aren’t we all done with the Frenchman? Susan, break his heart and let him move on. I have work to do and his whining is a little bit much. I just don’t have the energy to spend on The Frenchman anymore.
Susan, I’m adrift, alone in a barren land, a land with no sea and only sand and no rivers of love. Oh to be back in the rivers and lands and the owls and serpents and tree frogs. I miss those tree frogs.

I saw Divergent on a whim – enjoyed it more than Hunger Games.
