Box Office Breakdown! Lone Survivor Rockets To #1! Frozen Hangs on! Hercules Crashes!

I had the longest running winning streak and now I have the longest running losing streak! Forgetting that a few movies opened wide, I incorrectly predicted the top spot.

The real life Navy Seal drama Lone Survivor took out the competition, taking the top spot with $38.5 million after expanding to wide release.

Frozen dropped one degree to number two with another $15 million. There’s no end in sight for this snow storm.

The Wolf of Wall Street’s stock rose another point, climbing one spot to number three with $9 million. It’s still a far cry from its $100 million budget.

The Legend of Hercules couldn’t hold much weight, taking in just $8.6 million in its debut weekend at number four.

American Hustle held at number five with $8.6 million bringing its domestic total to almost $102 million. People will be boogieing to this number for a while.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug landed at number six with another $8 million for its domestic total of $242 million. This little hobbit has some staying power.

The star studded drama August: Osage County expanded to wider release, but only managed $7.3 million in the number seven spot.

Saving Mr. Banks is still cashing in, with another $6.5 million.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones plummeted to the number nine spot in its second week of release with just $6.3 million. Still, with a budget of just $5 million and a total domestic gross of $28 million, I don’t see this franchise dying anytime soon, unfortunately.

Rounding out the top ten was Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues with $6.1 million. After four weeks in release and a domestic total of $118 million, Will Ferrell definitely scored a win with his highly promoted sequel.
