Wondercon 2014 Day 1! Salem! Revolution! Son Of Batman! Autographs! Signings! And More!

One thing I learned this weekend… I am not in con condition. Seriously, I need to get in Con shape before San Diego Comic Con! Man oh man. This weekend, as you all know was Wondercon! One thing I love about Wondercon, is that it’s not as crazy as SDCC and you can really see at lot more.

Day one was Friday, and Suddenly Susan and I headed down to the Anaheim convention center. We met up with Jim who writes Comic Book Crossover (Check out his column if you haven’t already!)

After picking up my badge, I was fortunate enough to be able to talk with the cast of Salem, the new show on WGN. I’ll have more on that later.

I joined Suddenly Susan and we picked up some autograph wristbands. We were both lucky enough to get Revolution and Salem. So that was nice.

The convention floor was buzzing and there was a lot to see. What’s nice about Wondercon is that you’re able to see a lot of things that at SDCC you just don’t have the time to see or the time to run around.

There were some awesome booths. The Fox booth was buzzing with Dragons 2.

The Spartacus cast was on hand to sign autographs.

One of my favorite things to see is the R2-D2 builder booth. They are incredible. One day, I’ll have my own R2-D2. LOL… No… Seriously.

Susan couldn’t resist getting a photo.

The three of us had to run upstairs

Our first signing was the cast of Salem. Now, this one was upstairs and one thing about Wondercon is that you can’t take photos upstairs during the signing… Grrrr…

After a brief wait and being given the “signing rules” about 5 times, we were lead inside. Shane West, Brannon Braga, and Adam Simon. Were present. All were nice, even though I felt a little strange after just interviewing them a few minutes before.

The poster is awesome and whoever did the key art for this series, great job! I’m looking forward to this series and I’m hoping that it kicks ass!

We ran back down to the floor. Herbert Jefferson Jr. was there. It’s not a con without Herbert Jefferson Jr.!

The Evil Ink booth had some awesome prints.

Then we had to run back up for the Revolution signing. The NBC series produced by JJ Abrams.

Again, we couldn’t take pictures, but can I just tell you. Elizabeth Mitchell… One of the nicest, coolest, most awesome people I have ever met. Now, I got into the “V” signing before the series came out at SDCC and Elizabeth was awesome then, but…

She literally spent a good few minutes with everyone. Took everyone by the hand and said hello. Now, Juliet was my favorite character on Lost. Erica told me, “Juliet is going to be your favorite.” and let me tell you, she was right.

Elizabeth literally was adorable. I mentioned how much I loved her on Lost and she was like, “you know, I wasn’t sure when they put Josh and I together if it would work, but there was something about those two characters” and she went on, and it was like having a conversation about Lost. Then I flippantly mentioned how much I miss “V” and we talked about “V” for a second. Seriously, I was like, I need to go. LOL… Stephen Collins was there and I was so taken aback at how nice Elizabeth was I barely said two words to him.

I can’t say enough about how cool Elizabeth was. Susan told Elizabeth how pretty she was, and Elizabeth said, “Oh, so are you!” or something like that. lol.

We ran back down to the floor. I really wanted to pick up a Funko Pop Sons of Anarchy Jax figure, so I was on the hunt!

Susan found some Wondercon wreckage. She saw a small Greedo figure being demolished under the feet of 10,000 fans! Doh! Poor Greedo… But we all know, Han shot first.

Had to be said.

After running around for a bit, we had to head to the DC booth for the Son of Batman signing. Amongst the voice cast are firefly sat Sean Maher, and Terra Nova star Jason O’Mara.

I told Susan like… 5 times that Jason O’Mara was there, but for some reason she tuned me out each time. Shows how much things I saw resonate! Harrumph!

The cast was signing a really nice litho, for Son of Batman and Jason O’Mara is the voice of Batman in the series. Jason was super nice and posed for photos with everyone in line. He was so gracious.

I also talked to Sean Maher and talked to him about the Young Playwright’s Festival, which is where I met him. He said, “Is that where we met before?” I was like, yes! LOL… We talked about the play he performed in and if he’s coming back this year. Such a cool guy.

After that was finished, we were all pretty exhausted.

Elizabeth Mitchell said she was pretty!

We checked out some of the cosplayers outside and then saw Elizabeth Mitchell leaving. She was waving at everyone and smiling at everything going on around her. It was pretty funny.

And so closes day one of Wondercon 2014.

Check back for more from the con, including more signings, interviews, cosplay and more goodness!

Until next time kids…
