Ace Heads Down To Dark Delicacies For The Sleepwalkers DVD Signing! With John Landis! Joe Dante! Cynthia Garris! Dan Martin! Mick Garris! Autographs! and More!
I don’t know about you guys, but I love vintage horror films! Love them! And last week Ace headed out to Dark Delicacies to check out the Sleepwalkers signing which brought together Joe Dante, John Landis, and Mick Garris. I am a huge Joe Dante fan, The Burbs, Matinee, Gremlins, etc… And John Landis, I swear he’s produced so many of my favorites.
The same held true for the Ace Man who had so much fun at this signing! I love the fact that Dark Delicacies does signings like this, you just don’t see it anymore! I mean they have had some awesome events so I highly suggest checking them out!
Anyway, I won’t bore you with my babbling! Check out Ace’s report after the jump!

What’s up, you autograph addicts! On September 4th, I had the opportunity to meet some of the greatest Horror directors to ever grace film with their talent. Just imagine John Landis, Joe Dante, and Mick Garris under one roof… True Masters of Horror, both figuratively and literally. On top of that, Cynthia Garris and Dan Martin also graced their presence to sign a few graphs. What ties them all together? This event premiered the Blu-Ray release of an unappreciated horror classic, SLEEPWALKERS…
6:24- Arrived at the event… I was literally the 5th person in line… I thought this was going to be a packed house… I was really worried that everyone would be at this event because the Arclight premiere was a shot in the dark due to the cast… Apparently not! It only reached the capacity of 20 people.
6:40- Mick Garris arrives! Word spreads that Cynthia might not arrive… The same rumor applied to Joe Dante. Dan Martin arrives within minutes.
6:57- A knock at the back door sounds across the room. Someone gets out of line to open the door… It’s none other than John Landis…. We were all praying that he was in a good mood. I had mini-posters on top of DVDs… Possible Racking in my future? Maybe… Maybe Not…
7:02- Cynthia arrives despite not feeling well.
7:08- Joe Dante walks in with his wife! I was glad because I was afraid he might not show up… Despite the rumors, he does…
7:13- The signing officially begins… The Line goes down in this order- John Landis, Joe Dante, Dan Martin, Cynthia Garris, and Mick Garris.
I was glad that there were test bunnies in front of me… John Landis is notable for personalizing and having “interesting” remarks towards fans who ask for too much… Despite all that, I admire him and his work… I would have been happy if he signed the DVDs. By the end of the night, I would have gone back to the end of line to get Landis 5-6 times. The line consistently had 3-5 people so getting back in line wasn’t too stressful.
7:20- Joe Dante signed all my DVDs and movie posters.
I probably had the least amount of items in comparison to others…
It seemed like Landis and Dante were avoiding my Masters of Horror movie poster though… Same with the TZ: The Movie…
7:24- Dan Martin was super cool… I think he was trying to grasp the moment. I bombarded him with “The Stand” items…
7:33- Cynthia Garris was a sweet person… and Mick was a class act… He signed all my items… But on top of that… He took my Masters of Horror poster and had Dante/Landis sign it… He also did the same with “The Stand” mini movie poster…
7:40- After 2-3 times getting in line… I immediately went back in line in efforts to get Landis to sign the Twilight Zone Movie Poster and the Sleepwalkers DVD signed by many of the cast already… He did it…
7:44- Others walked out with hundreds of autographs… That is not a joke….
Dante could not help it but pull out the ebay jokes… and Landis made fun of Dante with past autograph devaluation comments… I walked out with a total of 50 Graphs… Thirty-Nine for myself and the rest for friends/family….
