Throwback Thurs! The One Time I Got Michael Keaton To Sign! And It’s Even On Beetlejuice! Say Wha?

With Toy Story 4 heading to theaters I thought it might be a fun look back at the one time I actually got him to sign. 

This was in 2011 and he actually signed Beetlejuice. I know, crazy right?

I just had a nice dinner with Erica and Scotty and now we are off on our adventure for tonight… Who are we trying to get? None other than Batman and Beetlejuice star Mr. Michael Keaton! I know, I know… Michael Keaton isn’t Angelina Jolie, but I’m a lover of all things 1980’s and really 1990’s and Michael Keaton is so iconic for those two decades. Beetlejuice is one of my favorite movies of all time, not to mention Batman and even Gung Ho! Okay, now I’m really going to get made fun of. Lol…

8:45 p.m. – Erica, Scotty and I just arrived. I’m not kidding, there are like 30 people waiting… I knew there would be a lot, because Michael Keaton isn’t necessarily out a lot these days, but I didn’t think there would be THIS many people.

8:52 p.m. – Scotty and I both have Beetlejuice, me a mini poster and Scotty has a laserdisc. Erica has a Toy Story 3 poster that she’s been working on since the premiere.

8:54 p.m. – One of the theatre guys is trying to satiate the crowd and tells everyone to line up but that Michael Keaton won’t sign on the way in. Sigh, I fear we are in for a shut out…

8:58 p.m. – I didn’t realize how late we were running. I thought we were way earlier… not that it matters much apparently.

9:02 p.m. – I think something is happening…

9:03 p.m. – Oh crap, that’s Michael Keaton walking right over to us from the far parking lot.

9:04 p.m. – Everyone starts to crowd in, I swear these people are like sharks swarming their prey sometimes…. Michael Keaton starts to come over and sign… I get shoved behind three people, and I lose Erica completely. And can’t see Scotty anywhere…

9:05 p.m. – Michael Keaton is being very choosy about what he will sign, and I think is making a mental note in his head about how many he will do. He is being very nice, but since I’m in the back I’m not able to really get in there. I run over to the other side, where I have a better shot of getting in.

9:06 p.m. – I’m noticing that Michael Keaton is responding to people asking him to personalize, so I asked him if he would make the Beetlejuice poster on the top out to Mike… He hears me and turns to get my poster after a second! Thank God! I have been trying to meet Michael Keaton for so long!

9:07 p.m. – I hear Scotty asking Michael Keaton to make his laserdisc out to Scott and I think he gets Michael as well… Even though it’s super fast and I can barley make out anything… And that’s it… Michael Keaton stops and heads inside…

9:09 p.m. – I feel like I have just been though war… Oh no, Erica didn’t get him on her Toy Story poster! She said a large lady kept pushing her poster down even though the lady already got her photo signed by Michael Keaton… Man… That sucks.

9:11 p.m. – I couldn’t see much of anything because I went to the other side. Sigh…

9:21 p.m. – We are going to try and wait for him coming out… I don’t know how successful we are going to be but we’re going to try… sigh…

9:26 p.m. – Michael Keaton is doing a Q and A so I don’t think it will be THAT long but who knows…

9:31 p.m. – It’s kind of chilly, but still pretty nice out… We are super lucky. The weather has been so hit and miss lately.

9:35 p.m. –There are still about 20 people hanging around waiting to get something… Hmmmm

9:43 p.m. – We are running to the side, and we hear clapping… The q and a is over!

9:44 p.m. – Michael Keaton is running out and we are all lined up, but either his people or the theatre people are saying he’s not signing. Sure enough Michael Keaton walks right to his car! Man… I feel bad for Erica… Ah well… I’m sure there will be a next time right! Right? Doh!
