Box Office Breakdown! Gravity Is Still #1! Carrie Fails To Scare Up Much! Escape Plan Stumbles!

I’ll tell you what, Sandra Bullock is burning up the Box Office. Gravity is just killing it. Good for Sandra. I hear that the film is awesome, even though I have yet to see it.

For this weeks Box Office Breakdown, Suddenly Susan is giving us the scoop on the top box office earners!

This week’s Box Office had two incredible milestones – I correctly predicted the number one movie again and Gravity held the number one spot for the third week in a row! Gravity is still soaring with another $31 million, making it the 10th highest grossing movie of 2013. How much will it make before it’s in theatre run ends?

Captain Phillips locked down the number two spot for the second week in a row, adding another $17.3 million to its domestic total.

The horror remake Carrie only scared up $17 million taking the number three spot.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is still gobbling up ticket sales with $10 million and the number four spot.

Looks like no one is interested in seeing 70 year old action stars, as Escape Plan opened at number five with just $9.8 million. Stallone and Schwarzenegger should probably throw in the acting towel.

Prisoners held at number six with $2 million, bringing its domestic total to $57 million.

The indie film (and one of James Gandolfini’s last performances) Enough Said, snuck back into the top ten at number seven with $1.8 million.

It wasn’t much of a secret that The Fifth Estate would open so poorly, with just $1.7 million in the number eight spot. It was a surprise, however, that this is the worst debut for a film opening in at least 1,500 theaters this year.

Runner Runner stumbled down to the number nine spot with $1.6 million for a domestic total of just $17 million over three weeks.

Insidious Chapter 2 rounded out the top ten with another $1.5 million to add to its $81 million domestic total.
