Finding Dory sank the competition once again, taking the top spot with $41.9 million.

The Legend of Tarzan swung into number two, opening with $38.1 million.

The Purge Election Year broke box office laws at number three, opening with $30.8 million.

The BFG had a minuscule opening at number four with $19.5 million.

Independence Day: Resurgence didn’t have much to celebrate at number five with $16.5 million.

Central Intelligence wasn’t too bright at number six with $12.3 million.

The Shallows drowned at number seven with $9 million.

Free State of Jones was liberated at number eight with $4.1 million.

The Conjuring 2 was exorcised to number nine with $3.8 million.

Rounding out the top ten was Now You See Me 2 with $2.9 million.
