La La Land sang a new tune, moving up to the number two spot with $14.5 million.
Sing held a note, staying at number three with $13.8 million.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story lost some of the force at number four with $13.7 million.
The Bye Bye Man said farewell, opening at number five with $13.3 million.
Patriots Day lacked pride at number six after a wider release with $12 million.
Monster Trucks was abominable, opening at number seven with $10.5 million.
Sleepless was tired, opening at number eight with $8.4 million.
Underworld: Blood Wars went underground at number nine with $5.8 million.
Rounding out the top ten was $5.6 million.
