Box Office Breakdown! Hunger Games Hits Number One But Underperforms! Julia Roberts Bombs! The Night Before Falls!
Katniss’ arrow scored a bulls eye with The Hunger Games Mockingjay part 2 opening at number one with $101 million.
James Bond and Spectre were knocked down to number two with $14.6 million.
The Peanuts Movie got their groove on at number three with $12.8 million.
The Night Before was less than festive, opening at number four with $10.1 million.
The Secret in Their Eyes was an open book flop, opening at number five with $6.6 million.
Love the Coopers had a little affection at number six with $3.9 million.
After two months in release, The Martian was still soaring at number seven with $3.7 million.
The indie drama Spotlight climbed up to number eight after a wider release with $3.6 million.
The 33 were trapped at number nine with $2.4 million.
Rounding out the top ten was Bridge of Spies with $1.9 million.
