There is nothing like a con to bring out the Fanboy in all of us. Big and Small… It’s just so much fun to head to a con!
Check out Erica’s full recap with tons of pics!

Spring is finally in the air here in Chicago and you know what that means – C2E2! This is the fourth installment of this convention which has a strong focus on comics/artists and pop culture.
There are more and more folks each year and the con keeps getting busier on Fridays – meaning more folks are seeking the con exclusives and trying to get on artist sketch lists earlier and earlier. A good sign for growth!
As usual, Marvel was front and center with a surprise visit from the, er, ever youthful Tony Stark.
Daredevil was around – trying to get his movie franchise back on track now that the rights have moved from Fox to Marvel. Hmmm…
Marvel held their daily Super Happy Hour giveaway full with tons of goodies…
…and even had one of the writers on hand to sign and hand out some swag
There were also live art demonstrations:
C2E2 also has a Variant stage which has, well, varied programming. On Friday there was a Buffy Shadow cast where people re-enacted the musical numbers from Once More With Feeling:
On Sunday, kids day, there was a kid costume contest which was hilarious and adorable:
There were plenty of celebrities in the house including folks from The Walking Dead, including Laurie Holden (aka Andrea – farewell!)
Chad Coleman – the new conscious of the show, Tyreese
The old conscious of the show, Dale, was also around C2E2, more or less…
And the new breakout character of the season – Carl who has grown so much in the past season. Chandler was friendly and very easy going:
Holy incons, Batman! Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman) were also in the house:
The fifth Doctor Who was also on hand to greet folks
Representing True Blood –Janina Gavankar who also recently appeared on Arrow
From Game of Thrones, we had the Night’s Watch commander from north of the wall (James Cosmo)…
…and also Natalie Dormer who plays Margaery Tyrell – the wily lady who’s aiming to marry Joffrey. (Poor thing!). Sadly, there’s no picture since she did not allow candid photos.
On the other hand, Jason David Frank was very happy to pose and chat away with fans. This Green Ranger from the Power Rangers had the most insane line the whole weekend.
There were also some author signings with EB Hudspeth who wrote The Resurrectionist: The Lost Work of Dr. Spencer Black (look for a review from the Novel Strumpet!)
And also RL Stine, the writer of Goosebumps. Strangely the kids seemed to be really excited to meet the guy that scares them!
The Hunger Games costumes were also on display – it’s always great to get up close and see the details on the costumes.
And speaking of costumers, there were some more great cosplay:
At first I thought this was a great security cosplay with a nice touch on the dog – then I realized this was actual security which is everywhere lately. Not that that’s a bad thing since they were unobtrusive. However, I really wanted to pet this wooly German Sheppard (I didn’t) and wanted to give him a bandolier to dress up as Chewbacca. You see the resemblance, right?
Artist Alley was constantly busy with tons of great artists and a few booths out that way.
Podcaster CinemaJaw was asking a question of the day which provided tight results on the most anticipated film of the summer:
And clear results on the best comic book director:
And so wraps up C2E2 2013!
