Captain America 3 Spoilers! Hawkeye Returns? Marvel’s Secret Wars? More Returning Characters? And More!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is out now on VOD and will be hitting blu-ray septermber 9th. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are doing a mini press tour to tout the release and of course talk turns to the third chapter in the Captain America universe.

A few interesting things have slipped out. Jeremy Renner let it slip that Hawkeye might be making an appearance in the new film, but there might be some other familiar faces in the new movie as well.

Plus, what about Marvel’s Secret Wars storyline.

Talking to Cinema Blend Joe Russo said:

“From a character standpoint, it falls into the category of what you can and can’t say working for Marvel. Certainly Captain America will be back. The expectation would be that Bucky will be back and there’s certain characters in the Marvel Universe that Cap has a strong connection to but we’ve also got some tricks up our sleeve for this one an we’re hard at work. That’s a very crowded summer and there’s high expectations so we’re all hard at work trying to exceed those expectations and really carve out a big, splashy idea for Captain America 3.”

He also talked about Hawkeye and the Secret Wars storyline:

“That’s such a hard question because we’ve kind of already done that. Do they have to be under contract with Marvel? Maybe they are at another studio. Listen, when I started collecting, The Secret Wars was one of the first books I ever bought, so that’s always been an obsession of mine to see something of that scale done – a crossover. I don’t know if that would ever be possible, with all the different situations at the studios. But I would love to see a lot of characters on screen together.”
