Come What May I Will Meet Moulin Rouge Star Ewan McGregor! It’s Not Impossible! Autographs! Photos! And More!
Ah Ewan McGregor! I have to tell you, I am such a huge fan of his, from Big Fish to Trainspotting to Shallow Grave to one of my all time favorite movies Moulin Rouge, Ewan McGregor is pretty much amazing in everything he does.
On the promotional trail for his new film The impossible Ewan McGregor did a Q and A. While I was supposed to attend, I got stuck in traffic. I know, shocking. So, I thought I would try and meet Ewan either on the way in or after.
9:42 p.m. – I just arrived and there are about 10 to 15 other people here. Damn, I didn’t think it would be this popular. Who knew!
9:51 p.m. – Oh shit, there’s Ewan’s car. He gets out and tells us he will sign afterwards.
10:09 p.m. – The q and a should be starting soon or underway. I wish I could have made it for the q and a.. Dammit.. Ah well…
10:15 p.m. – There is a woman trying to back her car out and she just can’t do it. It’s sort of comical. Security is just standing there, so the collector’s start to help her and direct her. LOL… God bless her.
10:17 p.m. – On her way out the lady even stops her car to thank everyone for helping her. lol…
10:34 p.m. – I have my Trainspotting mini poster with me that has pretty much everyone else on it. I also have a couple vintage magazines, and a Beginners mini poster as well. I know wishful thinking. LOL… CB has his Beginners mini poster with him and he’s walking around as is OTG John.
10:45 p.m. – It looks like the q and a is about over. People are coming out by the boatload!
10:54 p.m. – Oh and there’s Ewan! He is coming over just like he said. His publicist says, “one each guys, and I’ll know if you try to get a second!”
Here’s another classic example of how I would rather have one nice autograph rather than two sloppy ones. Ewan doesn’t have the “cleanest” autograph ever, lol… HE he’s really taking his time and signing nicely for everyone.
He’s so gracious. He signs my Trainspotting mini poster
and then signs CB Beginners mini poster, saying, “Oh, you should get the director as well. He’s here.” Then Ewan calls Mike Mills the director of Beginners over to sign CB’s mini poster. That’s pretty damn nice.
All in all, my Trainspotting mini poster looks fantastic and I’m so grateful Ewan McGregor took the time to come over and sign for us. It was really nice of him and makes me an even bigger fan!

Ewan is one of the nice ones. Cool that he did that favor for CB. Most celebs wouldn’t do that. Kuddo’s to Ewan and I think he deserves the Happy Theo Award. Mike, don’t be surprised with the crowd. Anyone involved with the Star Wars francise will bring out the hoards of collectors. Until next time….
I never even thought of the Star Wars connection! I always think of Ewan’s more indie films and his interesting film choices like Moulin Rouge and Velvet Goldmine when I think of his film history.
In fact, I think I’m trying to erase the memory of seeing the prequels from my brain.
I hear yah Mike! Though I thought the lightsaber duel between Ewan and Hayden from Revenge of the Sith was good,( Yes, I am a Star Wars geek!) it is the only good scene from the prequals. I much prefered Ewan in films like Moulin Rouge and Transpotting. And as a huge animation fan with the film Robots.

Ewan was the one good thing about the prequels, like you said, he’s amazing in everything he does, even if the movie itself is shit!
I should’ve skipped work for that. DAMMIT!!!!!!
