I love this! Cody, sent in the below about meeting one of my favorite actresses, Ms. Elisabeth Shue! I’m very jealous I didn’t know about this event, because I would have loaded up my Adventures In Babysitting counter stand and headed out. Alas, what can you do.
Check out Cody’s recap below!
I’ve been reading your site for over a decade (maybe longer) & felt compelled to share this encounter I recently had with Elisabeth Shue in Santa Monica on Mar. 9th at The Aero in Santa Monica. She & her husband, director Davis Guggenheim, were on hand to view a specially preserved 35mm print of his father’s film, “The St. Louis Bank Robbery”, from 1959 & on loan from the Academy of Motion Picture of Arts & Sciences.
I approached her before the screening & remarked that it was the 25th anniversary of “Leaving Las Vegas” this year & what a hallmark film that is; going as so far to remark the similarities I saw between Nicolas Cage’s character & my uncle — who was a chronic drinker. She invited me to have a seat with her & tell her a little more about my life to her & Davis. This lasted about under 5 min & Davis offered to take our photo.
Easily, a moment of 2020 I will remember fondly considering the dire circumstances we currently occupy with the COVID-19 pandemic & so on.
Thanks for all you & your contributors do, Mike, and much success ahead!
