TV Heartbeat! Emmy Predictions! Snubs! Dexter Farewell! Did Heads Roll With Sleepy Hollow? And More!
Oh Emmy week!
When the brightest and finest suit up to try and win that coveted gold statue. This year, is a great year, I’m hoping Mad Men can pull a come from behind victory as it’s a crime that none of the actors ever won from the series.
A CRIME!
Plus, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, come on now people… Time to look at genre shows a little…
Erica has the full scoop on this weeks TV Heartbeat!

What’s happening now? Emmys Emmys Emmys! It’s that time of year where TV recognizes the best of the past year. Do you have any predictions on the winners?
How about Tatiana Malsany (Orphan Black) for Best Actress in a Drama! Wait, she’s not even nominated? What?!?!?? Yeah, there was an explosion of indignation when the nominations came out in July. To reinforce that, she won in a landslide victory in Entertainment Weekly’s EWwys – fan-voted awards for Emmy snubs. Sigh! Sometimes it takes the Academy a second year to feel like their allowed to recognize a new show. Next year then!
But who will win the Emmy’s this year? Well, a couple of the “creative arts” Emmys have already been awarded (are the other awards not creative or art?) and some of the winners include:
Bob Newhart for his guest spot on The Big Bang Theory (his first Emmy!)
Carrie Preston for her guest role on The Good Wife
Neil Patrick Harris for hosting the Emmys and Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn for hosting Project Runway
For the primetime show, I expect to see Emmy’s to go home with Breaking Bad (Best Drama, Best Actor for Bryan Cranston, Best Supporting Actor for Aaron Paul), Julie Louis-Dreyfus (hilarious in Veep), Modern Family (Best Comedy) & Behind the Candelabra (already a winner with the Creative Arts awards). Maybe.
I would love to see Game of Thrones recognized – for The Rains of Castamere if nothing else since that was the most traumatic moment on TV last year.
Carl’s final scene with his mother on The Walking Dead runs a close second, but the Emmys have criminally yet to honor The Walking Dead beyond the Creative Arts. (Ahem!) We’ll see what happens on Sunday!
Farewell to Dexter! After 8 seasons of murder and mayhem, Dexter’s story will wrap up this Sunday. If the leaked spoilers are right, there’s a major death involved…what do you expect from a serial killer?
With the 27 new shows premiering, we’ll name this week whopper premiere week! I hope you cleared out your DVRs!
If you need help sorting out what to watch, I think the highly, highly anticipated Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has to make the cut! If anyone wants to reach me, I will not be answering the phone on Tuesday night.
The Blacklist begins with the mysterious Redding beginning his game of cat and mouse with the FBI. A deliciously fun James Spader leads this taut, action-packed pilot. Suspenseful and intriguing, I can confirm the pilot is worth watching!
For those in need of some drama in their life, The Hollowed Crown is a new PBS mini-series that weaves together several historical Shakespeare plays into one big story (Richard II to Henry V). It features an all-star cast including Tom Hiddleston, Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Simon Russell Beale, Jeremy Irons & Julie Walters (Harry Potter). For Hiddleston fans, he may not appear in the first episode, but he’ll be around for the rest – Once more unto the breach!
Tonight: Survivor (CBS)
Friday: Last Man Standing (ABC), The Neighbors (ABC) & Shark Tank (ABC), The Hollow Crown (PBS)
Monday: The Voice (NBC), How I Met Your Mother (CBS), 2 Broke Girls (CBS), Mom (CBS), The Blacklist (NBC), Castle (ABC) & Hostages (CBS)
Tuesday: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC), NCIS (CBS), NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS), The Goldbergs (ABC), Trophy Wife (ABC), Chicago Fire (NBC), Lucky 7 (ABC) & Person of Interest (CBS)
Wednesday: Revolution (NBC), The Middle (ABC), Back in the Game (ABC), Criminal Minds (CBS), Law & Order: SVU (NBC), Modern Family (ABC), CSI (CBS) & Nashville (ABC)
Talk time! As one of the most anticipated shows, what did you think of Sleepy Hollow? Did heads really roll or did your eyes roll? Fox certainly hit some huge numbers for the debut, but will you watch next week’s episode?

What did you think of the Burn Notice series finale? Did it feel like the right ending?
Goodbye. My name WAS Michael Westen.

Sleepy Hollow was better than I expected. I thought that Bob Newhart won an emmy before! Who knew?
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka the Frenchman) NOT getting a nom for Game of Thrones is criminal.
Rach – So odd that Newhart hadn’t won before, right? Glad he got some recognition now!
Susan – Agree that Nikolaj was great with a tremendous character arc this season. I really wish Game of Thrones would get writing or direction.
Lots of great stuff on TV this year!
