EW PopFest Brings Authors To The People! Signings With Anne Rice! Chris Colfer! Terry McMillan! and More!

Entertainment Weekly is bringing PopFest to Los Angeles, there are some awesome events, and the fest has just released their signing schedule for scheduled authors.

The Ultimate Pop Culture Event will take place in Los Angeles October 29-30, 2016

 

Bookworms rejoice!  A long lineup of critically acclaimed authors has joined the list of talent appearing at Entertainment Weekly’s first ever PopFest, set in Los Angeles October 29-30.  Anne Rice, Chris Colfer, Sophia Amoruso, Victoria Aveyard, Jade Chang, and Terry McMillan will all participate in book readings and signings throughout the two-day festival, giving fans a firsthand look into their recent works.  The full schedule and descriptions can be found below.

 

Entertainment Weekly’s PopFest, the ultimate pop culture event, will take place at The Reef, located at 1933 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90007, in downtown Los Angeles.  Tickets are available to the general public at http://ewpopfest.com/.

 

Anne Rice

Saturday, Oct. 29

Signing

The popularity of vampires, en vogue today as never before, stands as a tribute to the enduring work of Anne Rice, whose bestselling Interview with the Vampire contemporized the immortal beings. Rice’s beloved and iconic vampire, Lestat, returns in a visit to the mythical Atlantis in her forthcoming novel, Prince Lestat & the Realms of Atlantis, out Nov. 29. PopFest-goers will have an opportunity to meet Anne Rice, receive an exclusive, special advance copy of her book—and get it signed by the legendary writer herself.

Special appearance

The Golden Globe-winning Glee alum and New York Times best-selling author will read from the newest installment in his wildly popular series, The Land of Stories. The children’s novels follow twins who travel through a magical realm where they meet fairy tale heroes and villains—the latest book, The Land of Stories: A Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales, arrives Oct. 18. Popfest-goers will have an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the author’s work.

 

Sophia Amoruso

Reading and Signing

Sophia Amoruso, the founder of NastyGal.com and best-selling author of #Girlboss (2015) —which Netflix is turning into a TV show executive produced by Charlize Theron and written by Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon—will read from her newest book Nasty Galaxy, which comes out on October 4th, and sign. The book is a graphic and textual look at Sophia’s brain, with a foreword written by Courtney Love.

 

Victoria Aveyard

Signing

Victoria Aveyard’s New York Times best-selling Red Queen series follows Mare Barrow, who lives in a world divided by red and silver blood, and harbors a dangerous secret of her own. The series continues with King’s Cage, out Feb. 7, 2017—at a special appearance, Aveyard will sign copies of the first two installments, Red Queen and Glass Sword.

One of this fall’s hottest debuts comes from L.A. resident Jade Chang, whose hilarious novel The Wangs vs. The World follows a once-wealthy Chinese immigrant family, led by patriarch Charles Wang, as they set off on a cross-country road trip after losing their fortune. McMillan fans, you won’t want to miss this: The New York Times best-selling author of How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Waiting to Exhale will be signing copies of her latest novel, I Almost Forgot About You, which brings another complex heroine to the page: Dr. Georgia Young, who quits her job and embarks on a journey to change her life.

These authors join an incredible lineup that includes James Corden, the host of CBS’ The Late Late Show, live performances by music superstars Nick Jonas and Janelle Monae, discussions with Oscar-winning actress and director Jodie Foster, Emmy-winning showrunner Ryan Murphy and friends, and “Supernatural” stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. Attendees will have an opportunity to see first-look footage and special guests from Sony’s Dark Tower, a live taping of Anna Faris’s podcast, “Anna Faris Is Unqualified,” a reunion with the cast of Happy Endings performing a never-before-seen episode, a conversation with “Outlander” author Diana Gabaldon, the cast of The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend performing their musical mashups live, a live table read from the cast of “Bob’s Burgers”, and a conversation between husband-and-wife YA superstars Tahareh Mafi (Shatter Me) and Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children). The weekend will conclude with a 20th anniversary Scream celebration including a Wes Craven tribute, followed by an outdoor screening of the film.
