Fanboy Fail Friday! Scotty Runs Into Die Antwoord But They Have A Less Than Wise Word With Him! Hecklers! Chappie! And More!

I am (was) a huge fan of the group Die Antwoord (Ninja and Yo-landi Vi$$er). They are a South African rap-rave group. I have been following them for a while and have been addicted to their sound. Their videos are always something to be seen. Having seen them live a couple of times, they are a force to be reckoned with on stage.
Being such a huge fan, it pains me to write this review. I have seen Ninja out a couple of times. I asked to take a picture with him once. He declined because he was with his daughter and I totally respected it. Since that time, I have seen him three more times. Two of those times he was with his daughter and I did not ask. The third time I saw Ninja, he was with Yo-landi was at an Oscar party. At this event, they completely ignored the few of us that called to them.
This week, I saw both Ninja and Yo-landi at the Music of David Lynch event. They were standing in line near me. My friend and I thought this would be a good time to ask since they did not have their daughter and this was a public event. Two people beat us to the punch and began to gush about how amazing they were in the movie, “Chappie.” Really? You have nothing to say about their music? I get my chance to finally talk to him and I gush about how much I love their music. Then I asked if he wouldn’t mind taking a picture with me. His response, “Wrong question to ask bro! You see how those people were being nice? You want a picture?” I was floored. He has no idea how much I have been talking up their music to everyone I know, buying their CD’s, attending their concerts, and buying their merchandise. Is this the way to treat a big fan? How should I have asked? It is funny how he had no problem with people complementing him. I guess real fans only throw accolades out and do ask for pictures. My mistake. The sad part is, they are still not well known. If they are already acting this way, imagine how they will act if they break it big?
I recently read how the director of Chappie did not like working with Die Antwoord. I also read a review of the David Lynch event on Stereogum.com where Die Antwoord was mentioned. The title of the review: “Karen O, Sky Ferreira, Duran Duran, And A Dozen More Artists Paid Tribute To David Lynch (And Die Antwoord Heckled The Whole Time)” Wow, they have no class. So sad to find that the artists I like are not good to fans, fellow musicians, or directors. I know Die Antwoord is on the rise, but if they want that rise to continue, they better start treating people with respect. I will not be promoting them anymore at this point. Hopefully they will change their attitude. I hope I am there to see it.

Aww….Sorry Scotty!!! That’s a total bummer!!! =\
I gave up on them a long time ago. Major assholes every time I’ve run into them. I’ve only heard ONE person ever say they had a GOOD experience with either of them. Their last album has BOMBED. Chappie BOMBED. Give them another couple years and just go pay them $20 at the Hollywood Show.
