Everyone in Los Angeles is show biz, or at least KNOWS someone in show biz. Back in the ‘60s-early ‘70s, My father had a friend who worked on the TV show “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In,” which garnered me my first full fledged fangirl experience. My mother sister and I got to visit the field location for a set of what they referred to as “quickies” on the show. I could not have been older than 6 years old at the time, but I loved the show and recognized that the guy in the yellow rain slicker riding a tricycle (Coslough Johnson), and was thrilled to be introduced to her and Teresa Graves (later famous for Get Christy Love). The photos are lost in my house somewhere, or at least I hope they are… and even though I can’t find them, I know I got my first-ever selfie with Ruth Buzzi that day.
Flash forward a few decades, I was invited to a special “Laugh-In” reunion in the ‘90s. Those photos seem to be misplaced for the time being, too (what is it with me an “Laugh-In” cast members photos?) but I did carefully frame and hang my Laugh In Soundtrack LP that I got signed that day by George Schlatter, Gary Owens, Lily Tomlin, Dick Martin, Alan Sues, Arte Johnson, Jo Anne Worley and my old friend Ruth Buzzi.
