History Channel’s “On the Set with Vikings” Experience SDCC 2014!

History Channel had an outdoor “On the Set with Vikings” experience at Comic Con this year, and Mike was awesome enough to let me tag along with him.  We set off from the hotel, and took what we thought was a clever way to avoid the traffic around the convention center but really turned out to make our trek quite a bit longer.  Good going us!

We reached the experience just as it was getting ready to open, so…

Mike and I were the first to get to go through the experience, and experience is the right word.

First, on the tablets they provided, we entered our information, picked our Viking name, what our warrior specialties were and whom we’d fight with.  Not surprisingly I picked Rollo…#RollwithRollo!

There was a Shield Maiden just hanging out so I got a pic with her

After getting our passes we headed to hair and make-up.  Mike and I both told them to just “go for it”.  I mean why not get the whole experience?  Tattoos, scars, blood, hair…we got the full set-up.

From hair and make-up we headed to the first green screen station to take our stationary photos that would be used for our posters.  We picked our tunics and weapons, then hit our fierce warrior poses. I got this shot of Mike…

I asked him to take a pic of me with my camera, but I’d left the cover on so here was that brilliant shot:

Thankfully Mike was more on top of things so he snapped this gem:

I don't even know what that face is...

LOL!  Here’s a slightly less goofy one:

How do you use this thing?

I was trying to figure out my pose.  Also, you saw how that tunic looked on Mike, it looked great.  Me…I look like a Viking dwarf.  But check out that AWESOME hair!!!!  You’re jealous and you should be.

We returned our wardrobe and weapons, to head over to the next station which was a boat scene.

Here we picked more tunics and weapons, before heading to the prow of the ship to give our best “a storm is raging pose”

or judging by my face a “what’s that wave doing?”  Mike has a great warrior look.

From here we went to the last station where we chose more clothes and weapons.  The Shield Maiden from earlier starred in this scene with us and Mike and I chose to attack her rather than raid with her.

Aw, yes! RAIDING WITH VIKINGS!

Again, they look fierce, I look like an angry Chihuahua:

But I do have that epic wig!

Finally the experience was over and we were able to see our debut in Vikings, which I’ve linked here for your viewing pleasure, and my poster:

I think Mike and I are naturals so I’m just waiting for my call to head to Ireland.  Too bad Peter Jackson is done with “Lord of the Rings” because I could’ve sent some of these pics in and gotten cast as a Dwarf or Hobbit, but I’d hope for Dwarf.

Mike and I had such a blast that we decided to keep our scars and blood for the rest of the day, unfortunately I had to return my wig 🙁

We make battle look goooood!

Thanks to the History Channel for making this awesome interactive experience.  Now I’m even more anxious for Season 3!
