JJ Abrams did an interview this week with Gamerhub magazine and in that interview he complained about the quality of the Star Trek: Into Darkness video game.

The game got terrible reviews and was a flop. When talking about the game JJ said, “It was obviously a big disappointment to me. We were actually involved from the very beginning, and then we sort of realized that it was not going in a place where we were going to get what we wanted. So we dropped out, and they continued to do it despite … y’know.”

The game creators pointed fingers at Paramount saying that they had too much involvement, etc…

A flop video game isn’t anything new… What is new, is this quote from JJ Abrams..

“For me, emotionally, it hurt because we were working our asses off making the movie and then this game came out and it got — this isn’t even my opinion — it got universally panned,” he said. “And I think that it was something without question that didn’t help the movie and arguably hurt it.”

So… He’s saying that the video game… basically sucking hurt Star Trek: Into Darkness at the box office?

I’ve never heard anything like that, and considering that Star Trek was a pretty big hit worldwide it’s a little shocking.

In fact the film make $465,378,661 worldwide and that is pretty damn good.

I liked the movie a lot, it was one of my favorite movies this year, but I don’t think that the movie did worse because of the game… It’s kind of odd to hear of a filmmaker coming out and saying something like that… Interesting…
