This past weekend was the annual Hollywood Show and a bunch of the MTF gang headed out. Scotty, The Other Mike, Jack, and Suddenly Susan all made the trek down to LAX. There were’t a whole lot of people I wanted at this show but my friend Scott has a Goonies poster that he’s trying to finish.
Scott needed Jonathan Ke Huy Quan who played Data in the movie and also Veronica Cartwright who was in Alien and X-Files.
Me? I really wanted Julie Newmar on my Catwoman action figure… Okay… It’s kind of a Barbie, but a limited edition Barbie, so that makes it okay. Right?
Anyway, we arrived. The Other Mike had a stack of artwork for someone I didn’t know their name and Scotty came loaded with Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Suddenly Susan was here for The Hoff himself… David Hasselhoff. He wasn’t here yet and so we had to do our own selfie.
Then I headed down to Julie Newmar’s table. She had a sign that said “Only personalized autographs” and honestly as a collector I hate having action figures personalized. The Other Mike talked to Julie Newmar and she was interesting. LOL… her handler was very nice and said, “oh, she did that before and it wasn’t a problem.” She had a silver pen and I asked her to sign it in my purple paint pen so it would match. I think that confused her… but she did it.
It looked amazing. I also asked her to write Catwoman under it and she exclaimed, “NO!” I was like, oh damn… Okay… But she did pose for the photographers with the doll and smiled. LOL…
I still got a photo with her though because hey… When do you see Julie Newmar?
Then she tried to jack my purple pen… #ItOnlyHappensToMike
After that, Scotty and I headed to take a look at the KITT cars that were at the show in the back. That was pretty cool. I’m not sure if they were the original car/s or not because no one was there to talk about them, but they were pretty cool to look at.
Then we went to Jonathan Ke Huy Quan’s table. He was very nice, and introduced himself to me and we chatted for a second.
He signed the poster really nicely and even personalized it.
The Hunger Games costumes and props were back on display and this time there was a large display that was done really well. In fact, it was cool to see them done up nicely this time. last time at the Hollywood show they were out in the hall.
They are going to be auctioned off later on by Blacksparrow auctions so make sure and check that out!
Scotty and I tracked down Veronica Cartwright who again we were getting for my friend Scott. She was adorable and one of the most affordable autographs at the show. She was very nice and happy to sign the poster and talked to us about X-Files and Alien.
My friend’s poster is rolled so tight, it took Scotty and I both to hold it down to get signed. Sigh…
She also posed for a photo.
And then we waited for The Hoff to come back. Suddenly Susan waited for him and when he did return he kept saying, “let’s go!” He was nice though but very interesting.
After Susan got the Hoff, I wanted to see if there were any magazines or fun stuff. Needless to say, I spent too much money on magazines. LOL…
There were also a couple cool mini posters from Belgium I found.
And finally, The Other Mike went to get Joan Collins. However, he took a photo of DVD Dave getting his DVD cover signed and Joan Collins handler started yelling at him and told The Other Mike that if he took another photo he was going to get charged. The Other Mike said that he was taking a photo for his friend and was going to but a photo and the guy said… “I know, but if you take a photo, I’m charging you extra.” Joan Collins looked confused, I was like what the hell? and The Other Mike was like, “forget it.” and walked okay…
We decided to leave after that and gathered together to get some lunch. Then Mike came running back from the bathroom and said, “we’ve gotta go, I just told Joan Collins handler to go fuck himself.”
Okay… And with that… We left.
At lunch we laughed and had some interesting talk about Shittens… Which apparently are mittens for when you take a shit… Who knew..
Until next time kids…
