Ace was out and about for a little film called The Lords of Salem. It’s Rob Zombie’s latest and while I vowed to never watch of his films after seeing House of 1000 Corpses I’m happy Ace had some success.
It seemed like a crazy insane night that’s for sure. I think I got tired just reading about it! Man oh man… Horror fans are dedicated folks! I gotta tell… God bless them!
Check out Ace’s full recap after the jump!
What’s up autograph fanatics! Ace here with a recap of the Lords of Salem premiere!
The Lords of Salem looked like it was totally going to be awesome. After watching this film, several weeks after the event happened, I was extremely disappointed. If you have seen the first trailer, it was absolutely ominous and looked like it was going to be a smash. For this film, Zombie compiled the majority of actors that he has worked with over the years. It had true potential to be the best film of his career. Artistically and cinematically, the film is gorgeous. The cinematography and the components within the frame really create this frightening feeling. The demonic approach was well executed, and the color palate of the film is eye catching. The film falls short on its screenplay. The dialogue and storyline are horrendous! It absolutely makes a film a film! Someone should have told Zombie that he needed to revise the film a couple times in terms of dialogue… Sheri Moon’s lines especially! She was great as a serious actress, but fell short playing the innocent, free, almost ditzy counterpart. Like I said, this could have been the movie of his career! More money needed to be placed into the story as a whole… Everything else would have come into place.
We arrived at the Lords of Salem event around eight. The premiere was supposed to start at ten; therefore we came at a perfect time. It was definitely a last minute thing as well… I printed around 4 hours before the event happened. I know this is going to sound terrible but: I should have printed their other movies! I have to work on doing more research! I always regret it!
Well, it was only like 20 minutes when Michael Berryman arrived! As always, Michael was cool to all his fans. He signed and signed away!
He is known in other films like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and the Hills have Eyes.
I neglected to come prepared as he signs away. He is always a class act and knows how to treat fans.
Time passes when Ken Foree joins the graphing circuit. Michael Berryman takes a seat near him after doing a signing marathon.
Ken is notable for not signing graphs unless it’s a convention and without a fee. Ken immediately sees Berryman signature on all the items and turns to Berryman saying, “Michael, you did all these.” Berryman smiles with the biggest grin ever and say, “Yup.” I believe Ken didn’t want to be upstaged, so he starts right away.
It wasn’t before long that we noticed Roger Morrissey.
He signed our items and moments later Bruce Davison showed up. Davison did 360s around us signing away. It seemed like he kept avoiding me though.
Eventually, I got him despite having my items in his eyesight the whole time.
Maria Conchita Alonso tried going up the escalator and we stopped her in her tracks. She signed away and away. She was as nice as could be. She reminds me of a Charo type character. She was absolutely darling! She would sign a few for people, and claim that she would do one more, but she kept going. She was amazing!
John 5 arrived after Maria was done! He signed away! He was pretty awesome. He even signed a pickgaurd for me! I would later get it signed by SpiderOne or Spider Zombie! I would have brought my albums if I had known!
Eventually, we saw Jeff Daniel Phillips and Lisa Marie sneak up the elevator. I went for Jeff Daniel Phillips. He signed and signed away. Lisa Marie disappeared! I was so disappointed that I did not bring my Mars Attacks and Sleepy Hollow! It would have been another signature marked off my list!
My brother soon notified me that he got Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie coming up the stairs as we got Jeff Daniel Phillips… How dumb of me! I could only hope for another chance.
Apparently Meg Foster, Cindy Geeson, and Patricia Quinn snuck in. The three of them, along with Dee Wallace were phenomenal in the film. I was once again mad at myself. Patricia Quinn is very notable for Rocky Horror picture show… Regardless, Meg Foster and Cindy Geeson signed.
Patricia Quinn could no longer deal with it. At the same time, Lisa Marie swooped by signing a few. She was signing all over the place. Many people were scared to put their items in front of her, fearing she would mess the signatures up. Sure enough, she did on several items despite my item coming off scott free! Got only one from her, and knowing that she did not care about placement, I would not try again.
We talked with Zombie’s publicist, and begged her for another chance. We said that we would line up and be cordial, if Sheri and Rob would do the line. Sure enough, Rob and Sheri were awesome and they signed away.
Definitely regretted not bringing the albums and magazines, but regardless happy to add the main duo on my posters.
We stayed until everything was done. They didn’t let anyone get autographs after the film was over. Got a few more as people were leaving the theatre. Berryman, Davison, Marie, Alonso, Foster did another round. We waited as everyone exited the building. Caught Sean Whalen and Lew Temple come out! Shean was nice enough to sign a blank for me! Lew Temple, an absolute class act talked and did a small video segment for the TTM community!
We ran as Sheri Moon and Rob were snuck down the back. We attempted to get them once again, but they did not. Regardless, they were awesome to us the majority of the night… I only had my Halloween pieces left over… Maybe, some other day…
Well, I hope you enjoyed this recap guys…
Now, remember, there is always a graphing opportunity out there… You just have to find it.
Until Next time,
Ace, the Autograph Addict
