The Love Boat…
Soon we’ll be making another run!
The Pinkster is a huge fan of The Love Boat, I mean who wasn’t? There was romance, high seas, a laugh track. In fact yours truly actually took a voyage on one of the ships used as The Love Boat for the Alaskan cruise episode!
This weekend Pinky was able to met some of the stars from the iconic series!
Check it out below!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here practically jumping out of my seat with excitement. You see, the most recent Hollywood Show had a reunion with one of my most favorite shows from childhood – a show I’d watch anytime, day or night – The Love Boat (!).
Because they had a rotating list of guest stars, it always felt “exciting and new” (kind of like the theme song) and, of course, the fact that my husband, Keith, guest starred on it made it even better!
While I’d met “Doc,” I mean Bernie Kopell a few years back, I was anxious to meet everyone else. Sadly, I still have yet to meet Gopher and Isaac (and, yes, I do still call them by their character names…so what?),
but I was thrilled beyond belief to meet Captain Stubing himself, Gavin MacLeod, as well as his on-screen daughter, Vicki Stubing, played by Jill Whelan. On a side note, Jill actually co-hosts a podcast now with Brian from my beloved radio personalities, Mark & Brian, so I’ve been especially anxious to get a chance to meet her. Also exciting? Keith and Jill worked on a few things together, so he was looking forward to seeing an old friend.
When we got to the show, the first thing on my radar was seeing the old crew (and by that I mean the ship’s crew…wow, I’m really punny today, huh?). The Hollywood Show was being held in a new venue, so we had to get our lay of the land and see where everyone was. Luckily, we were able to set sail (what is wrong with me?) and land ahoy in no time. I’m happy to report that Jill and Gavin could not have been nicer.
Gavin, in fact, was so amazing that he actually kissed both me and Keith on our cheeks and congratulated him on our marriage (as all the show volunteers kept telling people we’d just gotten married and had met at that venue – the Loews Hotel in Hollywood – at a show last year). He was amazing!
It was so much fun to see them all together. I just wish they’d gotten Isaac and Gopher, too!
