Malcolm McDowell Star Trek: Generations Q And A! Michael Dorn! Autographs! And More!
I have to tell you, I need to admit something… I’m a huge Star Trek fan. I love the original series and I love Star Trek: The Next Generation. When I heard that Malcolm McDowell was doing a rare set of public q and a’s I knew I had to attend the event for Star Trek: Generations. Michael Dorn, AKA Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation was the moderator.
While not my favorite of the Next Generation films, Generations did feature McDowell and the death of Captain Kirk (Do I need to put a spoiler alert there?). Plus, it was the first time the Next Generation cast hit the big screen.
Big Mike was joining me, but thanks to the horrible traffic today he was running late.
In the foyer there were some Star Trek props and a small red carpet.
Suddenly, I looked up and saw Nichelle Nichols on the small carpet. It was Uhura! I didn’t have anything for her to sign, but it was a treat to see her.
There were about 8 collectors/graphers waiting and then Michael Dorn came out. I’ve been working on a Star Trek The Next Generation magazine and mini poster and really want to get it finished. I’m sure it will take a while though.
Anyway, after the carpet Michael Dorn came over and was happy to sign. He was really a nice man, very cordial and kind. Making sure everyone got at least one.
Michael Dorn was happy to switch to silver and signed my Entertainment Weekly magazine and my Star Trek: First Contact mini poster.
After Michael Dorn went inside Malcolm McDowell came over. He signed a few but then got pulled inside for the q and a. Doh… I missed him again.
I waited for Big Mike to arrive and he was sad that he missed Michael Dorn. So instead of watching the q and a we waited outside for Michael to leave.
sure enough, he left and Big Mike was able to get his Family Guy photo signed as well. Nice!
Then we waited for Malcolm McDowell, it was taking quite a while, so we went inside. The movie holds up better than I remember, and then we were shocked when Malcolm McDowell came out to the lobby to sign memorabilia for people.
The nice thing was that if you had your own item, they let you get one thing signed for free. Mike didn’t have anything so he was nice enough to get my mini poster signed for me. Big Mike also got a photo with Malcolm McDowell as well. I didn’t even think about it, I got nervous.
Malcolm was really nice and was so cordial. I’m kicking myself for not getting a photo myself. Oh Mike the Fanboy what were you thinking! Doh!
Still, It was a fun night, and it’s always great to hang with Big Mike!
Until next time kids…
