Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here super excited to kick off our Manic Mondays column with the ultimate ’80s movie icon – the Valley Girl herself, Deborah Foreman!!! Now, it’s no secret that I love me some Valley Girl – there’s nothing like a young Nicolas Cage wooing a girl who says, “Like totally, fer sure.” Obviously I relate to this all too well as I like to think of myself as a bit of a Valley Girl back in the day. I wore plenty of pink fluorescent outfits adorned with pins and buttons that said, “Gag me with a spoon,” “Like totally,” and “Fer sure.” I lived in a Valley. I dreamed of Nicolas Cage showing up at my door in black eyeliner. Oh, wait….maybe that came later.
I was introduced to the amazing movie Valley Girl when I was in high school and we watched it so much the tape practically ran out. We could quote it word for word and fell in love with the characters. I’ve long since wanted to meet the one and only Deborah Foreman who played the “dazzling” Julie in the film. She and I have become Twitter friends in the past year and she’s always very good about responding to me. At the Hollywood Show back in February, I was able to meet Cameron Dye (also super nice), who played Fred on the movie. When I found out he was coming, I immediately wrote to Deborah about possibly coming, as well, but she said she didn’t really do those types of things due to not being able to sit for long periods of time. Blurgh! So I was extra happy to find out she was coming to this show. In fact, I wrote to her that I was going to have to give her a big hug when I saw her.
Sure enough, my first stop at the show? Deborah Foreman’s table. She was so cute – the first thing she said to me was, “I thought you were going to give me a big hug?” I ran around the table and gave her a big, pink hug. So stoked!
We took a few pictures and she signed the Valley Girl promo shot for me – or the shot that should’ve been the official movie poster.
Anyone who knows this film will have noticed that for whatever reason the girl featured on the poster next to Nicolas Cage was not Deborah Foreman. WTF was that about? So, Deborah took it upon herself to add her face to the shot (as it should’ve been all along). I LOVE it!
Although I’m not really an autograph girl, this was someone I was stoked to have signed something for me. I’ll definitely be framing this autograph for my wall. Deborah even wrote, “To Pinky ‘Like fer sure'” on the photo. Love it! Even better? Deborah agreed to be interviewed for our site…so look forward to that column coming soon. Thanks, Deborah!
If you’ve never seen Valley Girl, I highly recommend it. For additional pink fodder, please visit www.pinkylovejoy.com. As always, have a pink day!

Starting this website has been a labor of love. I love sharing my fandom experiences but more than that I love hearing everyone else’s stories. I love hearing about conventions, movie locations, meet celebrities good and bad, I love it all. I sincerely hope you enjoy my exploits, the adventures of everyone who submits an article, and all the members of the Fanboy Family! Without everyone who writes and reads MTF there wouldn’t be a site. This is truly for the fans, by the fans!
