Manic Mondays! Pinky Recaps Meeting The Entire Cast Of Pretty In Pink! Jon Cryer! Andrew McCarthy! Molly Ringwald! Annie Potts! James Spader! Autographs!

God bless Pinky! It was a real treat to be able to spend Saturday with her and meet Mr. Andrew McCarthy the final link in our Pretty in Pink saga. What I didn’t mention in my Go-Go’s review was that the Psychedelic Furs opened and so we actually got to hear Pretty In Pink (the song) live together! It was a pretty nice treat!

So, for this weeks Pretty In Pinky, Ms. Lovejoy decided to recap meeting the stars of her namesake AKA Pretty In Pink Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer, Annie Potts, James Spader, and now Andrew McCarthy.

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here delighted to finally meet the one and only Andrew McCarthy – aka Blaine from my beloved Pretty in Pink. Hello – it’s Blaine, people!!! The love of Andie’s life. The rich kid with the heart of gold. The preppy who walked on the “wild side” to pick up the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy with the name that wasn’t really a name it was a major appliance. I think you get the point. Andrew McCarthy has long been a love of mine and when I found out he’d be doing a book signing, I jumped at the chance to meet him.

 
Of course, the signing just happened to be scheduled around the same time as our big meet and greet with The Go-Go’s, so we were really lucky to meet Andrew on his way to the signing. I still plan to get his book, but I wanted to be sure I was able to get my Pretty in Pink album signed by the last remaining main cast member and now I’m happy to report it’s complete!

In the life of a non-autograph collector, this was a pretty major accomplishment. While I have several “cast complete photos” (pictures with the entire cast of a show), I think this is the first time I’ve ever had anything signed by the main people in a show…let alone a movie that meant so much to me growing up.

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but we not only watched Pretty in Pink in our limo on the way to Prom (which was in 1991 and long before this type of thing was the norm – it was on a VCR for goodness sake!), but I even emulated my dress to match the Prom dress worn by Andie in the movie. Yes, I guess you could say I’m a bit of a fan.

 
With the addition of my picture with Andrew McCarthy (who was a total sweetie, by the way),

I’ve now been able to meet a bunch of cast members from the film. Hooray! To recap, I’m including my pics again for fun. In addition to Blaine (aka Andrew McCarthy),

we have Andie (aka Molly Ringwald),

Duckie Dale (aka Jon Cryer),

Stef (aka James Spader),

and Iona (aka Annie Potts).

If we wanted to go nuts, I also have Kristy Swanson (who was the girl who made eyes at Duckie at the end of the film in the pink dress), but that might be pushing it. We’ll stick to the major players for now.
