I love me some Matt Damon, and while he’s been harder to get as of late, I thought it was the perfect time to do a flashback considering Ford V Ferrari is coming out soon!
Check it out below!
I have to tell you, Matt Damon has always been one of my favorites. I didn’t realize how much of a fan I was until I went through my magazine collection and discovered I have like 17 different magazines for Matt Damon!?! How is this possible? Oh, I’m Mike. That’s how it’s possible.
When I found out that Matt Damon was doing a rare appearance at a small theater, I knew I had to head out and go. Scotty, Pinky, and Ace were also on the way as well as Chris. I was worried it was going to be a nightmare madhouse.
So, I headed on down, loaded with my stack of magazines a couple mini posters and way too much stuff. LOL. Also on the bill is Jonathan Silverman who I LOVE in Weekend at Bernie’s. One of my favorite 1980s guilty pleasures.
We all arrived, and just hung out and talked for a bit. Ace had his signature hoodie and was prepared for the 98 degree heat. It’s so interesting but everyone had different items for Matt to sign.
Now, I’ve always had hit and miss luck with Matt. One time he’ll be super nice, another just totally diss. You just never know. People look at me like I’m crazy when I say that, but it’s just my experience.
A few random people arrive and then Liz shows up! I haven’t seen her in forever. She looks great and is adorable!
There are about 15 or so people and it’s really not that bad.
Then Matt Damon arrives. I have to tell you, he’s with his wife and takes a minute to park, but then he gets out with a big smile on his face and says, “Hi guys!” He then proceeds to sign his life away.
Like, He signed everything. And it wasn’t chaotic, or rushed. Matt was happy to sign and literally signed whatever anyone had and did photos. I even asked him to sign in silver and he was like, “Oh, sure man!”
That nice, I’m still shocked. I was able to get a nice photo with Matt and then I walked away and forgot I had a random blu-ray for Elysium so I walked back and Matt was like, “Oh, Elysium!” It was like that.
I got like eight things signed, without trying. And Matt was happy to do it. I felt a little odd, but he was more than happy to do it, like glad to do it. I’ve never experienced that to be honest.
I’m still shocked, he was so frakkin’ nice. I think Chris got seven photos with Matt because Ace couldn’t focus the camera. That’s how nice Matt Damon was.
And then, we saw Jonathan Silverman driving by. I grabbed my stuff and waited with Pinky. We thought he parked and then, we realized… Jonathan Silverman went in the front.
By the time we go to the front, we missed him. Doh!
So… Ace, Scotty, Chris and I headed to PF Changs for some grub.
When I got back, the other three bailed and I debated… Do I wait? Do I leave? When do you see Jonathan Silverman? Sigh… So, I waited. Honestly, it wasn’t that long. It felt like 100 years but it wasn’t that bad.
As I was standing there, the show broke.
A few minutes later, Matt Damon walked around the corner and headed to the after party. I said, “hey Matt, great job!” he was like, “Thanks man.” So crazy.
Then five minutes later, out comes Jonathan Silverman. As nice as can be. He was happy to sign, I had the blu-ray, a mini poster and a press kit.
Jonathan was like, “I’ve never seen this!” I told him the blu-ray came out a few weeks ago. And then he saw the press kit and was like, “I don’t think we even had this back in the day.” He was super nice, and then I got a photo with him as well.
So, I had a pretty awesome day. Seriously…
I got a crap ton of things signed and I got to hang out with these scavengers.
Such a blast! It’s so nice when everyone is cool and it’s just a fun easy time.
Until next time kids…
