Paleyfest 2013! 2 Broke Girls! With Kat Dennings! Beth Behrs! Garrett Morris! Jonathan Kite! Jennifer Coolidge! Matthew Moy! Autographs! Photos! Happy Theo’s!
As the Paleyfest 2013 draws to a close, I take a deep breath and sigh. I’ve been very lucky this year as most of the casts have been amazing to their fans. Here’s looking at you Walking Dead!
For my final Paleyfest of 2013, tonight I attended the 2 Broke Girls panel! Now, I freely admit this show is a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s very reminiscent of the old sitcoms of the 1980s for me, the setups and punchlines, etc…
The entire cast is supposed to be here tonight which includes:
Michael Patrick King, Creator & Executive Producer
Kat Dennings, “Max Black”
Beth Behrs, “Caroline Channing”
Garrett Morris, “Earl”
Jonathan Kite, “Oleg”
Matthew Moy, “Han Lee”
Jennifer Coolidge, “Sophie”
I went by myself for this one, only to be joined later by a whole who’s who of MTF’ers including Scotty, Billy Beer, Pinky, The Other Mike and yes even CB.
This was not a robust crowd in fact I think they ushered in people from the top balcony to fill in the main floor. Still after a while the audience filled up and we settled in.
They showed a flashback clip from Alice which was funny and then an episode that will air later on this season.
The panel was good even though I hate the moderator. Some chick who claims she’s on Entertainment Tonight? Ugh… Her questions were horrible. Still the cast kept the night lively and fun.
highlights from the panel were:
Michael Patrick King saying that they went after Kat for the part of Max from the start, saying there are not many girls like her and who could have played this part. She’s my unicorn.
Quickly adding that Beth is unicorn #2.
Beth Behrs was actually the first person to read for the part of Caroline.
Jennifer Coolidge might be the funniest person alive. Seriously, what she can do with a one word answer is hysterical.
Garrett Morris said that the writers on this show are just as good as back on SNL.
Jennifer Coolidge was asked if she had a dream guest star and she said, I don’t know… “Raven?” I have no idea what that means but it was super funny.
Garrett Morris said that he’s seven years sober off cocaine… So, he’s 78 now…. Do the math… Apparently, do drugs kids, you’ll still live to be in your seventies!
Beth Behrs telling the story about how chestnut the horse in the show is temperamental and almost bit off her head. Damn!
Kat Dennings had a great audition story about the first time she met Michael Patrick King (she had a guest spot in Sex and the City). She said after her audition she was driving with her mom and saw a giant billboard for the show and said, “Wow, this must be a big deal!”
After the panel… here’s where I would normally say there was a crush, honestly compared to the others this was a breeze. I had a good seat so I was right next to Kat Dennings. Kat was so sweet. She basically signed anything and everything.
I had her sign my mini poster and then Beth Behrs was signing next to her. So then Beth signed my mini poster as well. I then got Kat on my DVD cover. I went to the side because I was worried Garrett Morris was going to stop signing and I really wanted him to sign my mini poster. I got right up to him and he signed it right off the bat along with Jonathan Kite. Then I Kat was near me again and I got her on my DVD cover as well.
Jennifer Coolidge was signing up a storm and she signed the mini poster beautifully.
Then looking around I didn’t see Matthew Moy. He was on the other side. So, I got through the crowd and The Other Mike and CB helped me get Matthew Moy over the crowd to finish my piece.
It’s awesome!
Then I went back for Kat and had her sign my DVD cover for Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist which if you haven’t seen is awesome. One of my favorite films.
Then Beth was signing and signing… Kat left along with Jonathan, Garrett and Matthew.
Jennifer Coolidge was like a machine. Literally, her and Beth just signed for everyone! So nice!
I got Beth on the outside DVD cover… Hey, it’s all I had! LOL…
Jennifer Coolidge stayed until every fan was gone. She was the absolute last to leave and she made sure everyone got a photo or an autograph or whatever they wanted.
I’m giving Jennifer Coolidge the Happy Theo Award for awesomeness… I mean she was a trouper and so sweet to everyone. People stay to the bitter end, but this was the bitter bitter bitter end and God bless her for it!
A fun night! And a great way to end Paleyfest 2013!
Until next time kids, and next year Paleyfest!
Very envious. I wish we had things like this over here. I love 2 Broke Girls.
Garrett Morris said that the writers on this show are just as good as back on SNL. LOL HAHAHAHA
I regret not going!
I know that made me laugh too Ace!
I like the show a lot, but… it is a guilty pleasure. I think the actors really bring it alive.
Chevy Chase said the same thing with Community at his first appearance. Glad you had a good time overall!
