Paleyfest 2013! Revolution Panel! With JJ Abrams! Eric Kripke! JD Pardo! Billy Burke! Jon Favreau! Tracy Spiridakos! Giancarlo Esposito! Daniella Alonso! David Lyons! Autographs! Photos!
MTF Reader and all around awesome guy Russell attended the Revolution Paleyfest panel. Now, this is one I was debating about going to because I really love Elizabeth Mitchell from Gia and Lost. Sadly, she cancelled so I didn’t feel too bad about missing this one
Russell was on the scene and had a fun time even with all the madness. Not only does it get worse and worse each and every year but people get 1,000 times more aggressive.
Still, you have to fight sometimes to get what you want.
Check out Russell’s report after the jump from the Revolution Paleyfest panel!

Paleyfest 2013 Revolution Panel!
4:00pm – Arrived a couple hours early not knowing what to expect and found I was 5th in the “member” line. I know it was not sold out, but there was nobody here. For those of you who haven’t seen the show it is a good show. Kind of that “Lost” apocalypse feel (flashbacks) to it and great characters. I mean what’s not to like if you are a Kripke, Abrams and Favreau fan.
5:30pm – I notice a lot of the ebayers are surrounding a spot down the street and they roped it off. I thought it was strange as they are usually on the other side. Then some SUVs start pulling up and I got my poster to see if I could knock off some cast before the show. Sure enough they all were dropped off there and I was able to get David Lyons and Daniella Alonso.
Tracy Spiradakos got mobbed and Giancarlo as well but they are known as good signers so I didn’t worry too much. Ebayers are so rude though. I get they need to feed their families as this is their “job” but there is an ethical and polite way in doing any job.
6:00pm – We enter and I am in the 5th row aisle….like perfect for the run up. They also did the red carpet inside as something was wrong with the tent so all the interviews and photos were done by the bar area.
They also started bringing down people from balcony to fill out downstairs so some people that paid $10 got to sit in the Orchestra..what a deal!
7:00pm – show starts and it was a great panel.
I won’t bore you too much since you can see panel online, but JJ Abrams loved the idea of being disconnected from the world of instant information and made reference to songs he downloads just for the sake of downloading but never listens to it.
8:45pm – Last question and the rush is not The Walking Dead style. I get into the front row and can lay my stuff on stage. Favreau signed down the line once and didn’t stop at one spot so I was lucky to get him on my poster. Abrams did the same and signed a few Star Wars and Director signs and then was gone and I was lucky to get him on poster. Tracy was looking for a black pen as she told us her publicist told her not to sign in blue. I know the reasons, but really not valid in my opinion as dealers can lift a black signature just as well.
All the rest were easy and was able to take pictures with everyone and they pretty much stayed til there was nothing left to sign. Billy Burke was the one probably that didn’t sign as much as the other cast and was the first one out.
Gioncarlo is probably the most gracious person in Hollywood and signs multiples and even when signing autographs he thanks the fans for watching.
I hope this show makes it and has some staying power. Tracy says they will be at Wondercon (now someone has to tell me why has it not moved back to the Bay Area).
Awesome stuff!
I had an Orchestra ticket, but was not feeling great so I skipped it. David Lyons was the one I really wanted, but he was not scheduled to appear. Then he and Jon Favreau show up as surprise guests. DANG IT!!! And it was pretty calm too you say. Glad for you. Sad for me. Hopefully, they will be at Comic Con.
Mitchell was originally scheduled, but her name was pulled off their site. I think Lyons was always there as had stuff for him. Favreau was the surprise and not on their list. They will be at Wondercon at end of the month they said. Very calm as they pretty much signed til everyone cleared out of hall.
I checked all week. They never added Lyons listed or I would have gone for sure. Bummer. Glad you had great luck!
Hmm. I swear I saw him which is why I brought an individual. I noticed Mitchell wasnt so I didn’t bring anything for her. Oh well they’ll be at Wondercon in Anaheim so I bet the whole cast goes this time. Thanks, glad for a change it was tame and not like its gonna be at Big Bang :). I would love to go to Dallas one to get Linda Gray or Duffy, but just not worth trip down South.
It’s there now. I checked the day before and it wasn’t. Guess I should have checked the morning of, but nothing I can do about it now. Such is life.
