The Palm Springs Film Festival Gala 2018 Recap! Gal Gadot! Gary Oldman! Timothée Chalamet! Saoirse Ronan! Willem Dafoe! And More!
It’s always fun to kick off a new year with the Palm Springs Film Festival Gala. It’s generally a fun day with friends and you get to hang out, grab some food, see friends and for the most part, it’s a fun time.
This year the gala didn’t have a lot of HUGE names but there were plenty of people to get autographs from.
When I arrived we were able to get a good spot on the barricade and then we headed to lunch with Lindsay and her “Grim Cheaper.” 🙂
I got to say hi to Chris, Goth, Anthony, Andy and pretty much the other people out and about on the streets of Hollywood…
One person in particular was very excited for Gal Gadot apparently.
When we got back, I just finished labeling and boarding my stuff when we had an early arrival… Willem Dafoe. He was very nice and came on over to sign.
He signed my Florida Project poster and my Grand Budapest Hotel poster as well.
Billy was at his car and missed him, but and this is how nice Willem is… He came back over once he was done with the carpet and Billy was able to get him.
Then Florida Project director Sean Baker came over and signed. So that poster was knocked out early.
Lindsay was having a great time on the barricade and got some great photo ops.
Next to arrive was Timothée Chalamet. He’s such a nice guy. He came over and signed pretty much down the line.
I got him on my Call Me by Your Name poster.
Armie Hammer came over but stayed in the same spot and barely moved and then said, “I gotta go.”
Holly Hunter arrived and barely waved at the crowd.
Allison Janney arrived and wasn’t going to come over, she kept pointing down to her shoes, which were making it hard for her to walk in. She did come over but didn’t get very far and we didn’t get her.
Guillermo del Toro arrived and signed on the other end so we didn’t get him.
Sebastian Stan dropped and ran inside and on the carpet.
Sam Rockwell came over and signed I think three things.
Kumail Nanjiani was super cool and came over to take photos and sign.
Richard Jenkins came over and signed my Shape of Water poster.
Salma Hayek was the star of the night, signing and doing selfies from one end of the line to the other. She was amazing!
Saoirse Ronan dropped and came over to our little section. She signed maybe 10 things. One of them was by Hanna poster which had Eric Banna on it already.
Mary J. Blige signed quite a bit and people were very excited for her. I didn’t have anything for her but it was cool to see her up close.
Sally Hawkins dropped and didn’t even wave at people. Yikes!
Jessica Chastain was as nice as usual but she wouldn’t switch pens from the black pen she had in her hand. I got her on my Zookeeper’s Wife poster and Lindsay got her to sign my Snow White poster.
Laurie Metcalf was nice and came over to sign.
Gary Oldman was super nice and signed my Sid and Nancy poster. He saw that he was picked on the poster twice so he signed it twice which was pretty damn funny.
Patty Jenkins who directed Wonder Woman came over. She signed my two posters for me which was cool.
Finally Gal Gadot was the last to arrive and she was nice and came over. It was nuts for her, I have to say. She was trying to sign one each. I had her sign my Wonder Woman mini poster.
Lindsay and the “Grim Cheaper” were nice enough to get her to sign two additional things because they didn’t have anything, which was super awesome! How nice was that?
All in all, it wasn’t as star powered as in years past, but I’m happy with what we got. It was a fun day and it’s always great to see Lindsay, Billy, Andy, Etc…
Until next time kids…
Be excellent to each other!
