Rose City Comic Con Review! Jeremy Has A Blast At The Annual Portland Oregon Convention!
From the crowds, to the costumes, the setup, to the celebrities in attendance, and everything in between- the 2024 Rose City Comic Con might have been one for the books. And while I would usually equate a con to being awesome based on my celebrities interactions, and autographs (I met none, and got zero autographs this year), there was something different this year- and it was AWESOME!
Portland, Oregon hosts a number of comic cons each year- bringing in some of the biggest celebrities, incredible artists and vendors. Most of the cons, like this year’s Rose City, are held are the Oregon Convention Center- a massive venue located in the heart of the city. Unlike so many other cons, Rose City Comic Con has crowd control fully under control. I have to give them huge props for a seamless and super-fast entry.
Hayden Christenson and Rosario Dawson were the two big draws this year for celebrities. There was also some of the cast from “Breaking Bad, “Shaun of the Dead”, and the original Steve from Blue’s Clues.
I was most impressed with the setup of this con. The booth layouts were easily accessible, and it helped tremendously with the large crowds. I have been to many cons over the years, and this was easily the best to navigate. If I had to find something that missed the mark, I would say that the booth vendors, while interesting, were overall lackluster. It felt like too many vendors were there to promote a show, or an event, rather than selling products. I did end buying a really cool Elvira pin from a vendor who had so really rare and interesting pieces – so there were definitely some booths worth shopping at.
If you are in the Portland area next year for the con- I encourage you see what it is all about. Heck- maybe you can find me at the con- I’ll be the one wearing a nifty Elvira pin!
