Saturday Night On Hollywood Blvd With Music Legends Erasure! Andy Bell! Vince Clarke! Hookers! Drunken Fans! AKA A Typical Hollywood Night!

“Drunks, and Hookers and Bears oh my!” Yep, or as I like to call it, “My night on Hollywood Blvd at 1 in the morning waiting for Erasure.” Now normally when I wait for an artist after a show I go to the concert bring my stuff and then wait to try and meet them after. Today however, I was supposed to get tickets and then they fell though… DOH! Yeah, so I was bummed for most of the evening, then I popped in Clue: The Movie and I was happy again…

So, happy in fact I grabbed my Erasure stuff and headed out to Hollywood to try and meet the band. I have to cut my losses right? After all they are only touring like every 5 years, so it’s not like they are here everyday! Erasure has been a staple of my musical diet for years, I mean like back in the 90’s my friend Vanessa and I would dance and just be silly listening to their synch pop tunes… Especially “I Love To Hate You.” So, what’s a couple hours whoring myself out on the Blvd? lol…

11:31 p.m. – I just arrived and I can hear the band performing “Oh Lamour” sigh… I so wish I could have gone. Damn life and society in general. Ah well… I did get to pass two drunk homeless man pissing on themelves on the walk over here, so at least I have a story to tell mom.

11:34 p.m. – The show has ended and it looks like the crowd is dispersing… I have to figure out where the hell to stand. I keep texting Scotty and he’s trying to guide me but I’m directionally challenged so it’s like directing a blind giant using Braille.

11:35 p.m. – Okay that wasn’t that bad… I found it! There are only a couple people here… Well… Scratch that, there’s like 15 people here now…

11:41 p.m. – Some woman from the concert venue is trying to make us stand halfway down the sidewalk. However, a young lady named Dawna is policing the line, and says “No, this is a public sidewalk not your property and you can’t make us move.” Wow, we won that fight. Lol…

11:59 p.m. – There are way more people waiting for the band then I thought there would be. It’s kind of shocking. You just never know when you have a band like Erasure. They have been around for years but their audience tends to skew older, but hey they have passionate fans!

12:08 a.m. – Since my regular cohorts are not out tonight, I’m alone. But honestly, sometimes it’s nice to not have to deal with the craziness of people you know.

12:16 a.m. – Oh Lord, security just wheeled out a drunk guy from the stage door sitting in an office chair puking into a garbage can… Wow… That’s… That’s… Gross…

12:19 a.m. – I don’t think I’ve ever been that drunk… wait…nope, never…

12:34 a.m. – They just wheeled the dude out again and threw him into a limo… lol… God bless people!

12:43 a.m. – The line is thinning out… Which is good…

12:56 a.m. – Oh great two coked up hookers are now coming over to the line of people. Girls, Erasure is not a band that will appreciate your coked out sluttiness…

1:12 a.m. – Wow, these hookers are persistent! One is dressed in bright pink with this strange skirt kinda thing… huh… If I was going to be a hooker, I would be a high end hooker. To be a high end hooker avoid bright pink. I’m just saying.

1:23 a.m. – Now the road crew is taking pictures of the hookers performing makeshift sex acts on each other on the sidewalk… The things that happen at one a.m. on Hollywood Blvd.

1:34 a.m. – Okay, now the people in the club are telling us that the band and everyone has left. Ummmm… I don’t buy it. These guys just want to go home and will say anything to get us to go away…

1:41 a.m. – A few of us checked the back of the venue but it doesn’t seem likely they left that way…

1:45 a.m. – So, I’m back in the line… And getting tired…

1:52 a.m. – Oh crap, there’s Andy Bell walking out of the theatre. I ask Andy if he would mind signing and he comes right on over… Everyone comes up and Andy is just signing up a storm.

I get my two picture discs signed, and then Andy comes back and signs the limited edition “I Say, I Say, I Say” Pop up cd package and my blue vinyl It Doesn’t Have To Be import LP.

1:54 a.m. – Andy Bell is super nice, just chilling with everyone and taking photos.

1:55 a.m. – Vince Clarke is leaving now… He’s also super nice. He stops to sign for everyone and signs my two picture discs and vinyl albums as well.

Again, he does photos, and comments, “I’m going to make my serious face in everyone’s photo.”

Lol… Both guys were super nice… Andy even stood by the wall just hanging with everyone for a while.

It’s so rare for a group that’s been around so long is so accessible and personable with fans! I’m very excited and it was worth the long wait… lol… Thanks again guys!
