It’s a Sin… Well.. A Sin City.
Billy Beer headed down to the Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For premiere and had… Well… An interesting time.
The people who you thought would have done it, didn’t… And the one who we all thought for sure wouldn’t… Did… Interesting.
Check out Billy’s recap for the full scoop!
Welcome back to Billy Beer's Bar Stool. I would like to welcome everyone to the Apocalypse. In the past 24 hour I have muttered things that I thought I would never say in my lifetime. Like "holy crap it's hailing right now in Oceanside,CA. HAILING! Like ice on my windshield bouncing off. I'm betting people in SoCal didn't even know what it was. Well anyway, yesterday I took time off to go to the sequel to one of my favorite movies Sin City. The first one was something like I've never seen before from a movie. It took the comic book and turned it into real life, in such a crazy amazing way. Plus my girlfriend Jessica Alba was going to be there, so I had to go. :)
I get there, and it's not really a big carpet or set-up. There's fans, but not as many as I would have thought. It's not a street closure, so they're going to have to cross the street at the stop light, which is never a good thing. We do get a good spot thanks to Mike (not fanboy..HA! Like he would ever show up to anything early)
The arrivals have started. Sorry about the lack of pictures, but my camera doesn't take good pictures when the people are far away and there are lots of lights (foreshadowing). Jaime Chung is the first cast member to arrive. We yell, but to no avail. She wasn't having it.
Now the next few might be a little out of order, but they all have the same result.
Joseph Gordon Levitt (OK, he wasn't there, but he might as well have been the way this thing is going!)
Finally, Robert Rodriguez pulls up. Seriously, if this guy doesn't sign, nobody will! He without hesitation starts heading to the crosswalk to come visit his fans. Security points for him to start past us which he does. UGH! Luckily he goes towards us as he starts signing.
I pull out my back up cast poster since I already got him on my Comic Con poster. He signs it, but the problem is he signed the dark poster with a dead black. UGH! If this is all I get, I going to be a little pissed.
Josh Brolin shows up...Nothing.
Mickey Rourke now arrives, I thought we would have a chance with him, but nope. Maybe some of these people got burned out signing at all the talk shows.
He comes my girl, Jessica. There's her Mom. There's her Dad. (Yes I know what her parents look like in case she ever wants me to meet the in-laws). Jessica follows suit, and walks straight to the carpet. Sad Face!
Rosario Dawson shows up. She actually does sign and take pictures, only she did it on the other side where they always tell us we are not allowed to stand. That's just great. She's another one I thought for sure would sign tonight.
Well, we're just waiting for Bruce Willis. Might as well find someone to take a picture of me when he comes down the line and shakes hands. There's the last SUV, and out walks Bruce. He gets out, and then gets surrounded by security. He's coming this way. We hold up our posters almost mockingly to watch him stop a few feet away and start posing. But he just keeps getting closer. Are you Fucking Kidding ME. Without hesitation, or any kind of pose, he grabs Mike's pen and starts to sign his poster. WHAT!!!
All of a sudden, the barricade pushes forward right as he was about to grab my poster. He doesn't stop and signs the thing (right over Frank Miller, but who cares right now) Then he keeps going.
It's hard to out sign Robert Rodriguez, but he's trying.
This explains the hail this morning, Hell has frozen over!
As he makes his way back to the red carpet, the whole half of Hollywood Blvd is just standing there dumbfounded. Of all the cast members that we thought might sign, Willis was probably on the bottom of everyone's list. The fact that he's the only one that crossed the street, makes it even more amazing!
Well, no time to stand, have to get in position for exits.
As the crowd lets out, there are a number of limos lined up even though the after party is right across the street. Jaime King is one of the first people we spot. She comes right over. She starts over to my left and makes her way down.
While she's signing over there, Josh Brolin comes right to us and gets my back-up poster.
Jaime finally gets to me, and right as she is about to sign my poster, Mike (not fanboy, he would have left by now) tells her that she's got silver paint pen on her neck. She starts freaking out a little. I'm guessing her dress might have costed a pretty penny and she didn't want to get anything on it cause it looked amazing. She finally rubs it off and adjusts her dress, then signs my poster and 8x10. Yay! I've always wanted to get her, I've always thought she was pretty. Then I look back at her to take a picture, and what do I see, oh look, there's part of her nipple coming out of her dress. Well that's a little bonus for me! Guess this premiere didn't turn out too bad after all.
A few other people pass, then Powers Boothe comes over and gets my poster
That's it for on the way to the after party. Most of the big names took there limos (a whole 100 yards). I found out later, Jessica snuck out the side, and did sign for a few people. CRAP!
Well, I'm already here, might as well stick around for people leaving the after party. I know the odds are slim to none, but crazier things have already happened tonight.
One of the first people we spotted leaving surprising was Jamie Chung. I had her character poster and my lovely 5x7 photo op with her to go along with my poster. When she gets to us, her and her friends drives on by, but since the traffic was bad, the car is forced to stop. close by. Then the window rolls down, and her friends say she'll sign. I give my pictures to her friends cause she's on the other side of the limo. They tell me the only reason the stopped was cause I had her character poster. When she signs it, I ask her to sign the 5x7 right below it. She sees it and says "OH YEAH!" she loved it. Probably a lot more than the Real World cast piece Ace would of had for her.
Let's not talk about how long I stayed, but we will just say, that was the last highlight of the evening (Eva, Juno Temple and Rosario all driving right past their fans) Not at all what I expected tonight, but anytime you can say I got Bruce Willis today.....I'm sorry, did I say that right? I got Bruce Willis today, Anyway, 4 out of 5 of the beautiful ladies I was hoping to get didn't sign, but I got Bruce Willis today. There it is again. Time to go home, till next time.
