TTM Tues! Star Trek Edition! Vintage Autographs From The Stars! William Shatner! Brent Spiner! James Doohan! Paul Winfield! And More!
As Ace is still on school duty, I am taking over TTM Tues again. Now, as I said before, I don’t do a lot of TTM now, but back when I was a kid, I did a lot of stuff.
In Michigan there wasn’t a lot of access to celebrities, bands or pretty much anything to do with Hollywood. So, I would write to people I admired or shows I liked.
One series I really loved was Star Trek. I loved the original series, I love The Next Generation, etc…
I actually attended a couple conventions when I was a kid where I met
Marina Sirtis
Nichelle Nichols
Mark Leonard
Walter Koenig
and my mom was nice enough to buy me a signed photo of Gene Roddenberry! He was the creator of Star Trek. Sort of the Joss Whedon of his day. I’m sure I’m going to get flamed for that comment.
But those that didn’t come into town I wrote to.
The coolest thing I got Star Trek wise was this signed lithograph from James Doohan who played Scotty. It’s actually hand signed and is really cool.
I also got a really nice signed 8×10 from Brent Spiner who plays Data on Star Trek The Next Generation. It’s very nice and personalized.
Now, I know and I’m just going to say that the cast got a lot of fanmail back in the day, so from what I can tell most are authentic but some… Might not be.
Like the one I got from William Shatner.
It’s a really nice signature and it’s on a 4×6 photo that he sent off. It’s still cool.
Whoopi Goldberg joined the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation and was great with fanmail. She sent me this beautiful photo back personalized.
Paul Winfield stared in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and was also in Mars Attacks. He was a great character actor and sent me back this super nice photo with a great dedication!
Finally Michael Dorn used to send out these preprinted photos.
One side had Worf
and the other side had a headshot.
He also sent preprinted letters which were very nice.
Hopefully Ace will return to his regular TTM Tuesday-ing next week. In the meantime if you guys have any TTM’s you want to share send them in for next week!
Until next time kids…
