The Leftovers FYC Panel! Meeting Justin Theroux! Christopher Eccleston! Kevin Carroll! Amy Brenneman! And More!
The Leftovers is a really interesting series that has flown under the radar on HBO.
There was a panel and screening for the series with:
Damon Lindelof, showrunner
Justin Theroux
Amy Brenneman
Christopher Eccleston
Regina King
Kevin Carroll
Ann Dowd
It was very interesting hearing everyone talk about the show and brining it to life.
“In the first season we went very heavy.” said Justin Theroux, “I think in the second season we gave ourselves permission to be lighter. The benchmark of good acting is so deep and this cast here…”
“The first idea we had and talked to HBO about was this meeting where we said we wanted the first episode of season two with all new actors and characters.” Said Damon Lindelof. “They embraced the idea, and that’s when I said to myself we’re taping into something special.”
“The second season felt lighter and everyone has those scenes where you just go, ‘oy’ and everyone respects it” added Justin Theroux.
It’s clear that the series holds a special place in everyone’s hearts.
“I love hiring tortured and talented people.” Laughed Damon Lindelof, “For Regina and Kevin to come into the show, we didn’t ease you in. You anchored the show. It’s incredible.”
“You know, like everyone else, what attracts you to the show is the unknown. Sitting down with Damon and Tom and not knowing anything about the second season, they just laid out the the ground work for us to play.” Said Regina King.
It was a great panel and even though Regina King hurt her foot and was injured, everyone else stayed and mingled.
I was super excited to meet Christopher Eccleston because he was in Shallow Grave one of my favorite movies from Danny Boyle.
Justin Theroux was very sweet as well. The entire cast was exceptionally cool.
It was a fun afternoon!
