The Other Side Of Fanboying! Collecting! Updated! Buffy The Vampire Slayer Style! Action Figures! Prototypes! Master Casts! Unproduced Figures! And More!
It’s been a while since I did an update on my Buffy prototype figure collection. The newest additions are the beginning! Check it out!
There are so many different aspects to being a Fanboy I can’t even begin to scratch the surface.
And I realize that I’m probably going to be teased but you know what, like that’s never happened before. It was suggested me, that I should catalog all my collectables and such and the Virgo in me was like, “YES!” That was very smart.
I also thought… Gosh, I could share one of my collections with you all and if anyone else out there has an awesome collection of stuff, I could encourage you all to share it as well.
As you all know, I’m a huge fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. HUGE FAN! And back in the day they had a moderately successful action figure line.
The line was started by MAC Action figures and the first wave features Buffy, Willow, Angel and The Master.
It lasted for I believe four lines during which time a line of Angel action figures was also produced.
When MAC filed for chapter 11 (I believe, don’t quote me) Diamond Select Toys took the line over and produced several different lines with various characters.
Towards the end of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer action figure line there was a whole wave of Willow action figures that were left unproduced.
I’m a resourceful guy… So… I may have happened upon some really rare figures.
I have all of the commercially available figures but what I really enjoy collecting are the prototype figures and figures created during the production process.
The process is called tooling where all the parts are assembled and molds are created. Then the molds have to be tested, altered and paint samples created for the factories in China.
Below are some of my collection of Buffy The Vampire Slayer prototypes, T1 figures, and master casts. Enjoy!
If you have a collection that you want to share, I would love to feature it here! Drop me a line at mike at mikethefanboy.com

I always wondered why the Willow set never got produced. They were my favorite figures (Halloween Willow topping the list). This is an amazing collection. I have a small Buffy action figure collection that I started last year, prior to that I had a box of a 4 figures (Giles, Buffy, Oz, Halloween Willow (normal clothing), The Gift Glory & Dawn, and Chosen Buffy) I am not sure why my mother bought these for me while I was so young (starting at 12) but slowly they all got broken. I have recently started re-collecting (I am now 16) and I have You’re Welcome Cordelia(Which was shipped broken), Primeval Buffy, End Of Days Faith, Season 3 Fred Burkle, and Lessons Dawn. The last 4 are still sealed tight in there boxes, I plan to get more, expand my collection best I can before the figures are all gone. 🙂
That band candy Giles is the holy grail. I was obsessed when they published the photos and searched forever. I would LOVE to add it to my collection.
Awwww thanks Amy!
I love that one! I’ve been looking for it forever!
If you ever want to sell …. 🙂
Do you know if the unpainted Cordelia figure was a mass released thing? It’s always been an oddity in my small collection. Just a straight up grey.
