The episode opens to Eichorst’s oh so pleasant face. He walks in looking like a kid in a candy store. The project he has been working on in the huge space Palmer acquired is finally complete. We finally get a look at the major project in all its horrifying glory. The construction crew is led to believe that it’s an intricate animal processing plant. Eichorst claims they’ll be dealing with sheep; then again, he sees humans as helpless sheep. It’s equivalent to his white room, but a thousand folds disturbing. A human meat factory? *gulp*

After breaking the human army out of prison, Gus introduces Quinlan to the group. I guess I’m not the only one taken back by his awesomely chiseled cheekbones. He stirs up the unexpected crew and of course there’s always that one guy who feels the need to point a gun. Oy vey, they never learn. He threatens Quinlan accusing him of being one of the Strigoi. It doesn’t take too long before he draws his last breath. Quinlan may be pretty old school, but no one equals his swagger and mad skills. Snapping a neck got everyone’s undivided attention. Since no one else dared to challenge Quinlan, he gives a pretty wicked pep talk to his human defense force. The crew transforms from being frightened convicts to warriors of humanity. In this instance, the difference is not only skin deep. Quinlan reminds them that they bleed red, and they have to fights back if they want to remain that way. The blood war begins.

High up in their penthouse, Eldritch Palmer and Coco get comfy with each other. Coco is really pushing him to take a stand to demand respect from the Master. She feeds his ego and assures him of their everlasting success. Palmer is already a pig headed narcissist, but Coco might just be his biggest weakness at this point. She gives him confidence and he is willing to do whatever it takes to prove his manhood.

Zach, Nora and Eph are ready to head out to catch the train out of New York. Zach snaps some shots of the old place. You would think this is something he’d rather forget; but, regardless of the terrors, it will always be a huge part of his life growing up. Setrakian might act like a stone cold grumpy old man, but he has nothing but love inside. True, the sole purpose of his hunt may seem purely based on hate, but in reality it’s his love of family and human kind that fuels his drive. Setrakian and Zach have been bonding over the past few weeks and you know it’s hard for him to say goodbye to the little man. Nora and Zach take a final parting picture with Setrakian and he manages to give one of his never before seen “smiles”. No doubt he is socially awkward and doesn’t know how to react to any form of affection after so many decades of wandering alone. Even though Setrakian puts off an indifferent vibe, his handkerchief does make a brief appearance right after they leave. Fet walks in on the farewell party and bids his goodbyes to Zach. Nora assures Fet that they will find them as soon as they get back to New York.

Well aware of the impending trip to the holy land, Fet pimps his ride with some heavy accessories. That bread truck has come a long way since its simple delivery days. Now it’s the official Armageddon mobile. Fet and Setrakian head out to the most anticipated auction of the century. Setrakian wants the Lumen at any cost and he totally gets lost in his own thoughts. I love how even when Setrakian sounds like a mad man, Fet still follows him and has his back. They arrive at Alonso’s holy grounds. Immediately after, Eichorst walks in to bid in Palmer’s place. After verifying their accounts, the bidding begins.

Eichorst and Setrakian have a quick smack talk session to really get into the mood. In the midst of their “War of the Words” Setrakian finds out that the Master actually wants to turn him to witness the one thing Setrakian is trying to prevent. You can imagine his fury; “Never, I will release you Eichorst to die, let the soulless appendage you are”. The auction starts and it gets out of control quickly. It comes to the point where Alonso ends up stopping the auction to catch his breath. Knowing that they will quite at nothing, Alonso suggests the maximum withdrawal of the account will win the Lumen. Eichorst wins the Lumen, but he loses it as soon as he wins it. Eichorst’s account blocks the transaction and just like that, Setrakian gets his hands on the Lumen for three hundred million. Boom! This plan has Coco written all over it. Palmer probably saved a fortune by denying the gold, but we all know Eichorst, this trick will cost them a whole lot more than gold.

Fet and Setrakian get in the truck and leave as soon as possible. Just as Quinlan suspected, Setrakian has no intension of giving the Lumen to the Ancients. They don’t get too far before hitting a road block. Fet manages to literally rip the truck out of the jam, but then they get trapped surrounded by hungry Strigoi. Eichorst releases his slithery army at them. Fet has added more than a few upgrades to the truck. Both of them flee to the back of the truck and it turns in to their fortress. Fet shoots down the charging Strigoi, but the numbers are too high to keep up. The party was just getting started when Quinlan’s convoy rolls in with style; can’t go wrong with black escalades. They brought the heat to the party. The slimy creatures don’t stand a chance stuck in between gun fire. Eichorst takes cover behind the truck, and tries to go after Fet and Setrakian. His attention quickly switches to the towering figure right beside him. Yup, it’s Quinlan.

Quinlan addresses the Master through Eichorst. The Master’s flaming eyes bleed through Eichorst’s pale face. Quinlan patronizes him for playing the game safely; forcing all his minions to do all the dirty work while he hides in the shadows. Quinlan goes after Eichorst, but loses sight of him. Eichorst has been taking a good beating every week and no surprise; he has become an expert at running away. He will run into a dead end eventually.

The human army is pretty impressive. As soon as they get thing under control, Gus goes after Setrakian and Fet. He climbs onto the truck just to find it empty. He is anything, but a fool. Gus discovers a hidden trap door on the floor of the truck that leads straight to a man hole on the street. Fet and Setrakian have disappeared underground. I guess when Setrakian said it’ll get ugly and dirty, he really meant it in every possible way. Gus notices a blinking red light. When it comes to Fet, that light could only mean one thing. The next minute, the entire truck goes up in flames. NOOOOOOO!!!!!! Please tell me he made it out. He can’t die, not now!!!! *Hysterical Meltdown* No, Gus survived this, he saw the bomb right on time, he is NOT dead. *Resume Watching* I really hope he is not dead.

Meanwhile, a totally pissed off Eichorst enters Palmer’s penthouse. Palmer and Coco were sporting their smug faces looking extremely impressed and happy about the stunt they carried out in means of proving a point; Palmer demands respects. They were clearly waiting for Eichorst to present their demands. Coco does not stand idly by, now she is making demands. Wow, she dares to bite the hand that gave her a second chance at life. Coco was never part of the original deal, and this turn of events will not have a happy ending.

The Master makes one of his rare appearances. This is either really good, or really bad. Who are we kidding, of course it’s bad. Clearly terrified by the mere presence of the Master, Palmer musters up enough courage to “put him in line”; I’m sure he is very proud of himself. Master does not tolerate such nonsense. He takes care of the distraction. The Master walked away after enjoying good cup of Coco. Not to sound mean, but I’m not sad to see her go. The lady pretty much asked for it. Hope this will keep Palmer off his soapbox.

On the other side of town, Nora, Eph and Zach pass chaos to get in the last train out of the city. Things are getting uglier by the day. Eph still struggles to let Zach go. He is on a mission, not only to have a fresh start with the bioweapon, but also with Nora. She always knows how to snap him out and keep him on track. Zach isn’t the only one admiring their little hand holding session. Not too far away, in the shadows, Kelly is brooding looking at the charming family they’ve created in her absence. This can’t be good. She in inside the tunnel; she is done “playing nice”.

The last train finally arrives at the station. They find seats and settle down. After some time, the train finally gets clearance to travel. Everyone cheers in relief. Eph goes to grab some snacks for the long ride. All good things must come to an end; unfortunately, some sooner than others. Just when they thought they were safely on their way, the train hits a bump. No biggy, but that small bump turns into the biggest Strigoi massacre ever. They were all lined up on the rail like shock absorbing dummies. Wow, that’s how disposable they are just to get to that one kid. That train smashes through countless bodies before finally comes to a hault. Yikes! That was insane. Eph and Nora already know this is not a regular derailing.

Nora and Zach take out their weapons and flee the train cart. Oh god, the feelers are back. They scurry all over the train raising havoc. Eph runs back in search of Nora and Zach. He gets his gun out right on time to dodge the creepy crawlers. Meanwhile, Nora and Zack runs out on the tracks and unfortunately come across Kelly, the mother of all feelers. Finally we get to witness the one on one beat down between Kelly and Nora. We all knew it was just a matter of time before they butt heads. Nora yells at Zach to run towards the station, but he hesitates to leave as soon as Kelly calls out for him. We can’t blame the kid; Zach will never get over his mother’s passing and won’t accept her death, especially when Kelly recognizes Zach and have the ability to connect with him emotionally.

Nora slices Kelly pretty good. Just when she was about behead her, Zach cries out. His distraction is enough for Kelly to make her killer move on Nora. She grabs on to Nora’s wrist. NOOOOO!!!! Aww…I knew they were going to mess with our hearts by taking away one of our favorites. I can’t say I was completely shocked, but it still sucks to see her go. Nora hits the floor with agonizing pain. Kelly moves towards Zach. He takes out his dagger, but as soon as she talks to Zach, he asks Kelly to show herself. I would imagine myself freaking out if I saw that facing me, but this kid. This kid called her mom and hugged her. Oh dear. Once Zach is in her possession, the Master summons Kelly, and she takes Zach with her.

Eph eventually finds Nora struggling on the track. He loses his mind not seeing Zach beside her. Zach is still human and alive, but it’s too late for Nora; her body is crawl city. Eph tries to make her feel better, but she snaps, “You’re always late” Outch! She might not have a stinger yet, but she sure knows how to sting. Feeling the Master creeping into her head, she takes her own life. She goes out in sparks. Nora knew Eph won’t be able to do it, and she didn’t want him to go through it since she knows too well about taking a loved one’s life. I just talked about how Nora always kept Eph on track; well, that took an ugly turn. She died keeping him on track; let’s hope he won’t derail and do something senseless. RIP Nora. You will be missed!

After disappearing Ninja Turtle style, Fet and Setrakian resurfaces near the docks. They start heading towards the boats assuming they were safe and alone, but wait….Its Gus!!!! OMG YES!!!! He is unstoppable. Gus has been following them along the sewer the whole time. Another one on one encounter you knew was bound to happen, Fet and Gus; the two ultimate apocalypse survivors. Gus asks for the Lumen. Clearly, not having any intention of giving up the Lumen, Setrakian starts explaining Gus the odds of him walking away with the Lumen. However, Setrakian gets interrupted by none other than Quinlan himself. I guess Gus wasn’t alone after all. Seriously, these guys need to hug it out, and be on the same team. Straight out badasses from every generation.

To our utter delight, Setrakian talks himself into a deal with Quinlan. They both want destroy the Master, and he convinces Quinlan to use the Lumen as bate instead of handing it over to the Ancients to be destroyed. Alright, now we are all on the same page. They are a team, YES!!! After agreeing to terms, they all take a boat ride out of the city. Setrakian finally get a crack at the book. Now that he finally has the Lumen, what will he uncover?

The Strain Season 2 Samantha Mathis 1

The season comes to an end with the parting images of Palmer cutting out Coco’s heart out of devastation, Eph coming out of the subway station all dazed, and finally the boast with the ultimate fighters cruising pass the burning city.

Fet and Setrakian are unaware of the huge bargain chip Master just acquired, Zach. Sure it may seem like a no brainer, but this will cause trouble. Will they actually give up the Lumen for Zach? This was an awesome finale. I’m sad to see it end. Super stoked for season three. So much is at stake and things are about to get even crazier. Stay tuned for updates online. Pineapples and Sundays will never be the same. The Finale really hit all the feels.

Until next season peeps!
