TTM Tues! Successes From The Stars Of American Horror Story! Happy Gilmore! The Godfather! And More!
Hello autograph seekers! There really is no hobby like collecting autographs.. It is thrilling, frustrating, exciting and disappointing all in one. Unlike our fearless leader, Mike and others, I don’t usually have the opportunity to meet celebs in person (although we are trying to see about meeting up for graph collecting when I hit up LA). My celebrity interactions come through the mail.
One of the most interesting/ frustrating things about collecting happens when 2 people send a request to a celebrity-one person gets back a signed photo, the other gets nothing. This happens ALL the time. It’s happened to me a number of times and I still cannot figure out why. I’ve also been on the other end where I am the one receiving the autograph. Here are some tips I have for writing a good letter to your favorite celebrity:
Be real. Tell the celebrity why you like their work and what it has meant to you.
Keep your letter short. One page is enough- you don’t want to overwhelm them.
I know not everyone will agree with me on this, but I always ask for the photo to be personalized to me. I usually take it a step further and put a post-it note on the photo asking for a personalized inscription. This shows the celebrity you are not a dealer, and an actual fan.
