Here’s a question I’ve pondered for years: Where the #&*$ did my letter go?

I have written to SO many celebs over the years with zero response and I’ve always wondered what happens to the mail. Is it thrown away? Is it lying in a heaping pile waiting to be opened? Does it even reach the intended person? So many questions and so few answers. One of the hardest parts for me is deciding whether or not to send photos that have either been signed by another member of the cast, photos that are rare, photos that come from a press kit (I have a cool article about press kits that I wrote here a couple months ago- check it out), or other rare memorabilia. It’s a gamble, but when it pays off it’s amazing.

I was at a comic con last year and had the opportunity to finally get an autograph from Holly Marie Combs- someone I have written over the years with no response. When we got to talking, I asked her about fan mail and she let me know that during her time on “Charmed”, the Spelling Company collected all fan correspondence to determine which actress was getting the most fan mail and from which part of the country. According to Holly- she never got our letters. I wonder if this is a practice used by other companies?
