TV Heartbeat! Halloween marathons! Ash vs. Evil Dead! Librarians! Legends!

It’s Halloween this weekend so grab a bag of chocolate and plug in to some big debuts and fun marathons!

Halloween programming kicks in on Thursday with the holiday classic, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and the evergreen quote: “I got a rock.”

When they announced a crossover between Bones and Sleepy Hollow several months ago, it seemed just really odd.  But, I suppose, Halloween is as good a time as any for a unique mash up.  Booth and Bones dig up a 200 year old headless corpse so naturally Ichabod and Abbie are on someone’s Rolodex somewhere.

On Friday, Grimm starts up its new season and the first ever live exorcism will be broadcast courtesy of Destination America.

As a perfect Halloween treat that’s scary and freaky, Starz has the big Ash vs. Evil Dead debut! Get warmed up with an Evil Dead movie marathon on Friday. (Though you don’t need to see the movies to enjoy the show.) Groovy!

The Librarians begin their second season when a mysterious storm threatens New York City with a giant Tempest. (Hint…) This season, the Librarians will be facing some of the greatest villains in literature.

Librarians - season 2

Legends is also back for a second season! The action-drama starring Sean Bean will have a different focus, different showrunner, different location and a different tone this season. I’ll have more about where the new season will be headed with an interview with Sean Bean from NYCC.

HBO wraps up Project Greenlight on Sunday and then debuts the subject of the documentary. The film, Leisure Class, will take a bow on Monday.

AMC is prepping audiences for its new martial arts-heavy show Into the Badlands. For two weeks, AMC will feature classic martial arts movies as a part of Fightfest which will lead into the debut of Into the Badlands on November 15th.

Health check

Supergirl had a super debut that indicate a strong likelihood that Kara will be around for a while. Ratings were also really strong for The Walking Dead upon news that a major character may or may not be dead. I hope people realize this just encourages more deaths on the show. Sigh!

Meanwhile, Fox handed a surprise full season order for The Grinder which is one of its lowest rated shows this season.  Fox is struggling this season so we may see more desperate acts which may benefit shows like Bones and Sleepy Hollow.

Renewed: Casual (Hulu), Switched at Birth (ABC Family), From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series (El Rey), Monica the Medium (ABC Family)
Full season: The Grinder (Fox), Life in Pieces (CBS)
Cancelled: Mythbusters, The Whispers (ABC), Married (FX), Blood and Oil (ABC), Truth Be Told (NBC),

Stay tuned!
