TV Heartbeat Preview! Z Nation Tries to Find the Cure During the Zombie Apocalypse! The New Series Debuts on Space and Syfy this Friday!

Zombies are rising! Z Nation debuts this Friday! What’s Z Nation? It’s a new show about survivors of the zombie apocalypse staring Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do!), Harold Perinneau (Lost, Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions, Oz) and DJ Qualls (Supernatural).

While I haven’t seen the show yet, I got the chance to hear star Tom Everett Scott and writer/creator Chris Engler when they met the fans during the Z Nation InnerSpace Live panel at Fan Expo Canada hosted by Teddy Wilson and Morgan Hoffman.

In this take on zombies, one person, Citizen Z (DJ Qualls), may hold the key to ending the z epidemic since he inexplicably survived a zombie bite. What? A cure?

If only it were so easy! They must transport Citizen Z across the country and, well, Citizen Z may have a secret or two that could impact this plan.

With The Walking Dead, In the Flesh and a “companion” show for The Walking Dead on the way, you may wonder what sets Z Nation apart. Chris emphasizes that Z nation is really about life and the crusade to save mankind.

Additionally, Chris promises that Z Nation will be big on action with the plot swiftly moving along each week.

He also promised that the zombies are old-school so they are following George Romero’s rules, so it’s nothing like BBC America’s In the Flesh.

Z Nation zombies will be influenced/limited to the abilities of the individual humans ie…badass humans will be badass zombies. (Ergo, I would not be a very threatening zombie!)

If you ever find yourself in a zombie apocalypse, Chris also offers up some helpful tips on how to survive since he’s had a lot of time to think about this! (Must get myself a mace!)

Z Nation premieres this Friday on both Syfy and Space (for Canadians, eh?).

Stay tuned!
