TV Heartbeat! Wilfred Series Finale! Outlander Preview! Veronica Mars Reunion!

If you hear crickets chirping from your TV, it’s not your imagination! We’re in the lull before the storm (i.e..fall network premieres) so there isn’t a lot of original programming on right now. Ergo, it’s a good time to catch up on shows and clear out your DVR since we have a few weeks before the madness! (One week has over 50 new shows debuting. Mind = Boggled!)

Every dog has his day and the sun is setting on Wilfred! The series finale, and the ultimate fate of Wilfred himself, will be revealed tonight. I had a chance to chat with star Elijah Wood so stay tuned for a look at the fun and dark psychology of the show and the little things that make him geek out.

Monday will be filled with scheming beautiful people on Dallas and America’s Next Top Model.

Dallas season 3

Tonight: Wilfred series finale (FXX), Legends debut (TNT), Franklin and Bash premiere (TNT), Wahlburgers premiere (A&E)
Thursday: Last Comic Standing season finale (NBC)
Monday: Dallas premiere (TNT), America’s Next Top Model premiere (The CW)
Tuesday: Young Doctor’s Notebook premiere (Ovation)

Outlander this week!

Everybody love the Outlander premiere last week? Over 900,000 people took advantage of the advanced preview and even more watched on Starz during the debut weekend to place as one of Starz’s biggest debuts. The stat that surprised the network the most? The audience was roughly equally male and female! While the book audience is strongly female, the TV show is attracting both genders…just more evidence that female-led titles can appeal to both men and women…

Now that Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and the kilts have arrived at Castle Leoch, the MacKenzies (Graham McTavish and Gary Lewis) will host her as a “guest” — she’s been useful, but she could also be an English spy. Clearly, she behaves a little odd, speaks weird and has secrets to hide.

OUT-102_Geillis and Claire

Feeling very out of place, Claire will make friends with Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) and observe clan politics and brutality – like this scene where Jamie (Sam Heughan) gallantly tries to take the punishment for a young girl in the castle:

Life at Castle Leoch is going to be rather tricky!

Since the books are told from Claire’s perspective, we actually don’t see how Frank (Tobias Menzies) deals with his wife’s mysterious absence. The series seems to provide a bit more story on Frank if the following image is any indication:

Exciting! Tune in to Starz on Saturday!

Like last week, the Novel Strumpet (Alicia) and I will be live tweeting the East/Central and West Coast premieres on Saturday. We’ll also post our Outlander Recap and Reflection for some thoughts on how the show is unfolding. Join us for a little fun and swag!

Marshmallows unite!

The CW announced a while back that we’ll continue to visit Neptune, California through a CWSeed webseries, Play it Again, Dick. Ryan Hansen had signed on for this Rob Thomas series to play Dick Casablancas as Dick tries to launch a reality series.

Now we have the happy news that the gang will be joining him so expect to see Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), Logan (Jason Dohring), Wallace (Percy Daggs III), Vinnie Van Lowe (Ken Marino who is also staring in NBC’s Marry Me), Piz (Chris Lowell) and loveable Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni) back to their hijinks!

Rob Thomas also has another show debuting on The CW this fall, iZombie and cast members Rose McIver and Robert Buckley will also play roles in the Veronica Mars universe, but I’m pretty sure Rose won’t be eating brains.

Health check

Girl Meets World will get a second season while Suits will be suiting up for a 5th season. More summer fun next year!

Suits season 4

We’ll never figure out more about what’s happening in Black Box. Does anyone really care? Anyone? No? Well, that’s why ABC is not renewing the show for a second season.

Stay tuned!
