Throwback Thurs! Visiting The Set Of Cougar Town Part 1! Meeting Courteney Cox! Busy Phillips! Touring The Sets! Jules Cobb Awesomeness!

For Throwback Thursday this week, I thought that this would be a fun recap to do. It was really an awesome day, I mean the cast was over the top awesome and we got to hang out on the sets of Cougar Town, a show I love!

Late last year, I was fortunate enough to visit the set of one of my favorite shows… Cougar Town! It was awesome! My friend Ryan went with me and honestly, it was one of those days you’ll remember for the rest of your life. Visiting the set of a show you love is such a cool feeling, you get the see the entire process take place, God willing meet some of the stars… Honestly, if you have the good fortune to be invited or to go… do it!

When we arrived, I honestly didn’t even know that there was a backlot here. Cougar Town shoots on a small backlot known as the Culver lot in… Culver City. It was the smallest backlot I’ve ever been on, which made it even cooler. After we parked… And I admit I was tweaking a little… Okay, I left the door of my car open and walked halfway down the ramp and thank God I noticed it! LOL…

As we exited the parking structure I noticed the street. Cougar Town or the Cougar Town production facility actually built a street and movie theater façade between two soundstages! It’s here that Jules Cobb Reality is located and other assorted storefronts.

We’ll be coming back here later… trust me. I love to take photos. LOL…

Our guide brought us onto the set and we were informed that Courteney Cox had finished taping for the day… Doh. I was a little bummed but what can you do right? I was more excited to see the sets and be in the midst of the action.

The super neat thing… The production team actually put Ryan and I into one of the scenes! Sure we were glorified extras but to be actually in a show you love… Priceless! We were in a scene with Busy Phillips and Josh Hopkins where they discussed Grayson’s body issues at Gray’s Pub. LOL… It was pretty funny. Ryan and I walk behind Busy in the scene.

We shot that like five times from different angles and then got to sit down in the bar. Busy applauded us and said we made the scene. Lol… I love her!

Then we took a bit of a break from our time in the spotlight at the makeshift base camp that was set up. We couldn’t resist a few photos.

Then it was time to tour the set! Jules House!

Ahhhh… So excited!

I have to tell you, I’ve been on sets before but the Cougar Town sets are huge in comparison! I mean these sets are almost full rooms. Generally, sets are on the small side, Jules living room is gigantic!

I couldn’t help but snap a shit ton of photos as you can imagine. Hey, when you get to do something once, take advantage that’s what I always say!

The pool on the set is literally six inches or so deep.

There is a screen set up to make it sort of blur into the background when they are shooting in the house. All the other pool scenes are shot on location.

On the side of the house were some Krazy Kakes signs and coolers.

This is actually where Jules and Ellie talk house to house. They constructed fake facades up so they could shoot between the houses. Lol… It’s pretty cool.

We also saw Courteney Cox’s bedroom. I was thankful that a lot of the sets were actually dressed. Generally if a set isn’t in use the sets are not dressed and can be unrecognizable. This time they weren’t!

Ryan and I then headed back to grab a few more shots inside Jules living room and the front of the house. Listen, you can never have enough.

Of course we had to get more living room pics!

Then as we were walking out… Who did we run into? None other that Jules Cobb herself Ms. Courteney Cox! Would you believe that they called her and told her that we were on set today, so she drove back from her house in Malibu just to say hi. I love her even more!

We chatted for a few seconds about the show, how she loves to direct and that’s what she’ll probably do from now on. I told her what a fan I’ve been since Family Ties and I think I pretty much held it together which is a nice change of pace. LOL…

Then Busy Phillips joined us and we did combo shot photos… Jules and Laurie! Combo Shot!

You can’t get much nicer than that!
