Walt Disney’s D23 Convention 2011! Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Prop and Costume Display! Imagineer’s Booth! Cars Land at California Adventure and More!
Today was the start of the bi-annual Disney event called D23. Today was the day that Erica and I were going to take it easy, maybe check out the floor, see what’s up, and since we missed the Disney Legends panel… I think that’s going to be the case.
Now, I’ve never been to D23 so, yes kids, I’m a D23 virgin. So, I’m excited to see what the Mouse House has to offer. Now mind you, I’m used to the chaos that’s San Diego Comic Con so I’m sure this will be a little different.
The first thing Erica and I saw were a couple of the cars from Cars 2, Lightning McQueen and Mater hanging out in the front. So, after we met up with our friend Susan, who is awesome by the way, we had to get some pics with the “stars.”
Then it was off to check out the sights. I had orders to pick up the limited edition Disney Store ornament set so I had to bee line it there. Of course I went to the wrong store and well… confusion ensued… Ah well…
Still this was a great time to check out all the props and costumes from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It’s coming to Blu Ray in this super cool pirate’s chest box set… sigh… I do love me a limited edition set…
Anyway, this was an amazing costume and prop display we saw…
Swords and Maps…
Blackbeards Costume…
Penelope Cruz’s costume, swords and props…
Johnny Depp’s Costume as Jack Sparrow…
And more bits and pieces…
After looking thoroughly at the props and costumes we went searching through the booths and such…
We found the ornament set at the Disney Store and decided to chill for a bit to get something to eat… We then tried to get into the Lemonade Mouth signing and even though we were told line up starts at 2:30 p.m. it was capped like an hour before… sigh… I love it when you are told info and it’s wrong, this is just like comic con…
Sigh…
We’re just getting the lay of the land… and decide to head over to the imagineer’s booth…
After seeing a very cool video presentation, we were led into a large booth. Inside there were some various cars from the new Cars Land opening soon at California Adventure and very cool interactive Fire Truck from Cars Land as well…
We also saw a model of the new Fantasy Land opening at Disneyworld.
And there was a cool video of the new Snow White ride with a small display featuring the Dwarves…
And finally a model for the new theatre that is going to be the centerpiece of California Adventure…
Overall, I had a fun time hanging with Erica, Susan and Scotty. Scotty will have some more reviews of the panels coming up. I am a little disappointed that there isn’t a Marvel booth, or an ABC booth or a Pixar booth… and I would have liked more autograph signings… But it was fun and I’m looking forward to checking out tomorrow…
Until next time kids!

Thanks for sharing! I’ve heard a lot about D23 and was wondering about it. I’m a huge Disney fan which is great because I live in Central Florida. A little jealous that we’re not getting Car Land though!
