Box Office Breakdown! Frozen Climbs To #1! Wolf Of Wall Streets Hangs In! American Hustle Just Shy Of 100 Million!
This week’s box office was a game of ticket sale Tetris! Disney’s Frozen did the unthinkable. It climbed back to the number one spot after SEEN weeks in release! That is quite an incredible feat, as the animated winner took in $20.7 million, bringing its domestic total to almost $300 million!
The house of mouse edged out Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which took in $18.2 million. That’s the lowest take for the series so far, but with a budget of only $5 million, it’s definitely a win for Paramount.
At number three was the de-throned epic, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which took in $16.2 million for a $229 domestic total so far. Way to go Bilbo.
The Wolf of Wall Street’s stock rose as the drama climbed up a spot to number four with $13.4 million. With a $100 million budget, Leo still has a long way to go before seeing any profit.
American Hustle boogied at number five, dropping juts one spot and taking in another $13.2 million.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues fell to number six with $11 million for a domestic total of $109 million. Considering its predecessor’s lifetime, total gross was $90 million, there’s certainly a strong case for a third installment.
Disney’s family-feel good film Saving Mr. Banks fell one spot to number seven with $9 million. With a fairly modes budget of $35 million, it’s already in profit mode.
Secret Life of Walter Mitty, directed by and starring Ben Stiller, fell to number eight with $8.2 million. Too bad. This is my second favorite film of 2013. Its hefty budget of $90 million has Fox in the red.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire still has some spark at number nine with another $7.4 million to add to its $407 domestic gross.
In a stunning turn of events, Grudge Match managed to climb into the top ten, in its second week of release. The boxing “comedy” rounded out the list with $5.4 million. There’s no real cause to celebrate, however, when that makes up for one eighth of its budget $40 million.

With nothing too exciting opening next week, I’m predicting The Legend of Hercules to take the top spot. Although ultimately, I don’t expect that movie to be a hit; in fact, I’m predicting it will lose money. Tune in next week to see if I’m right!
Until then, happy movie going.

Suze-a-the loose-a!
You were wrong Susan, you said Paranormal Activity would hit the top. Just sayin’ don’t forget it my love cakes.
I hope you put that photo of Kellan Lutz on there. Damn, what I wouldn’t do with that for a couple hours. Susan, did you see Wolf Of Wall Street? Not sure about that one.
Ryan – I love reading your pet names for me 🙂
Yes, I’ve been wrong three weeks in a row now – boo!
I saw Wolf – personally, I hated it, but some people are lovin’ it.
Oh Susan, your words trickle down my spine like a soft yogurt or custard if you will. I was aghast and appalled at your recaps his week. You captured the thrilling victory and sadness of defeat. Yes, this is the world of entertainment at it’s finest. The world of love, laughs, tomfoolery and jocular silliness. Oh… the land we live in and the lands we sew upon the underdeveloped earth. Susan, your words can build villages, and create the tallest skyscraper.
Now, Susan I must tell you about how horrible I’m doing right now. Everything in my life is a adrift in sadness. There are no more times to skip gayley through the underbrush or talk to the gufilderfish and make friends with the animals I call spotlusters. Oh… I just wish you were here to dance, oh and Susan how we would dance, dance like we were young, dance like we were full of illustrious mid-morning dew.
I have news, and I’m not afraid to share. My father said the Lanky one and Frenchman are not real and when I said no, he threw my dinner plate around the table and said I couldn’t eat for a week but I did… I said what would Suddenly Susan do? So, I lifted my dress exposed my Buttocks and said, “here is where you can kiss.” I did it for the Lanky one, I knew he would enjoy it.
We must tell him and the Frenchman! I’ll catch the pigeon and put out word. Susan, a template for life is upon us, we must be bold and stand up. Stand up Suddenly Susan. Are you out there, can you read my thoughts. We are connected like the banshees and budepies of the forest and I can tell you Susan, only good comes of it. Now, we must do the dance of happy small mammals.
I wanted that puppy for so long, but now Susan, I think that puppy would be better off not in my house. It’s all darkness here, all despondant wrong.
Wanda – I’m so sorry to hear you are having a tough time. Are you still using the library’s internet or did you get your home back? Stay strong.
Oh Susan, I’m still alone burning with a deep and despondent desire to find a new and moving way to talk though the ages of space and time. To think that we once had to talk with two pieces of tin and rope but now our words and typeface can stretch though miles and miles of unsewn earth.
Susan, I have written a dance about your graciousness and generosity. For being my friend. I have also written a song but it has no words, but it goes like this, “oooh pah, pah, pah, oooh pah pah pah, lanta… lanta… lanta… oooh pah, pah, pah, lanta… Hieeeeeeeya! Hieeeeeeeeeya! Hieeeeeeeeeeya!” It’s hard to write the unspoken word, it’s hard to write notes and squares. Oh…
If only you could help me Susan, I’m very desperate and I don’t think I can make it through all of this. I’m tormented, my world has crumbled and I’m not prepared to go forward.
Know, my heart will always beat for the words of Suddenly Susan!
What is going on that is so horrible?
