How much do I love Anushika?
She sent in this recap earlier this year and… Well… I missed it! Doh!
But I wanted to share all the fun that Anushika had at Wizard World this year. She was able to meet Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Norman Reedus! And More!
Wow… What a weekend!
Check out her recap below!
Happy 2016 Guys!!!
I’m so excited to start the year on a positive note. This might come off as a shock, but I’ve never attended a Comic Con. I know, crazy! So when I heard about Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Jenna Coleman doing a Con all together I thought it was about time I went to one of these conventions. Not knowing exactly what to expect, I asked around from Con veterans to get a better idea. It was a bit discouraging since most of the stories weren’t so cheery. Oh well, I still decided it was worth the shot since I’m a huge Doctor Who fan.
Things were going well as I kept getting emails with detailed instructions with schedules and maps. They even sent replies to my questions within a couple hours; super helpful. Things took a turn when I woke up to an email a week before the Con giving me a complete refund. Matt Smith had to cancel thanks to a conflicting filming schedule. My whole world collapsed for an hour and then I got over it. I took the news better than I expected. The Wizard World in New Orleans had such a great line up and plus the city is an awesome place on its own for a visit. So I really couldn’t be that bummed. I landed in New Orleans Friday afternoon and instantly got an email about Karen Gillan cancelling due to Visa issues at the airport. At this point, I couldn’t help but laugh it out. Oy vey!
Off to a pretty cool start eh? I was still pretty pumped about the weekend. I met up with one of my fellow Hobbits and the rest of the weekend was nothing less than epic. What I expected to be a tedious stressful couple of days ended up being absolutely fantastic. The days consisted of us freaking out and giggling out of uncontrollable happiness. The Wizard World staff was so amazing. Everything went so smoothly and I did not spend my days suffering in endless lines. I actually got to check out all the artists and chill. I guess I looked a bit lost because there were a few times when the staff came up to me randomly and asked if I needed help. We had so much fun meeting old friends and making new ones. Everyone was in good spirits.
I got to meet some of my favorites and actually got a chance to have conversations with them. The fans weren’t treated like a herd of cattle. The staff was so friendly and efficient. Usually there’s always that one dude on a power trip, but I’m excited to say that no one was rude. I can’t thank all the staff and security enough for a memorable weekend. I’m definitely going back and can’t wait for the next Con. Wizard World, you are awesome!!! I bow to you for doing such a stellar job. I really hope I just didn’t get lucky and that everyone who attended had just as much fun last weekend.
I know I take an unholy amount of pictures at events, but this time I sort of failed. Guess I was enjoying it way too much. The following are some of the highlights from the Con. Every single celeb was beyond sweet and took their time to talk to us. Photo Opps went quickly as usual, but they made those few seconds completely worth it. I didn’t think that was even possible. When we got out, our pictures were already waiting for us. Not going to lie, I was pretty impressed. No wasting time waiting around. Did I mention that the staff was awesome?
Sure, I wish some of the prices were more bearable, but if this is what it takes to have a stress-free fangirl day, count me in. I wanted to write this up in hopes of helping anyone out there who might be thinking of doing a Con. In a sea of bad experiences, I just wanted to throw in this positive story of success.
Until next time Wizard World! =D
