Today, Pinky and I had the pleasure of hanging out together! It’s always fun when you can have a nice time with a friend and it’s not too hectic. Tonight was the Courts Celebrities Show and I thought it might be fun to head down and check it out. Now, There was one person in particular I wanted to meet and have wanted to meet forever. That’s Ms. Katherine Helmond.
Katherine was the star of Soap, Who’s The Boss, Brazil, and so many more classic films and series. When I heard she was going to be there, I knew I had to go.
So, Pinky and I headed down, the nice thing was that Friday, it wasn’t too busy. It was great because we were able to spend a little more time hanging out with people.
Pinky and I saw the hysterical Liane Curtis. Seriously, she should have her own stand up comedy routine. Liane was of course, Molly Ringwald’s best friend in Sixteen Candles.
Then we talked to Debbie Pollack, who was also in Sixteen Candles. She played Long Duck Dong’s “Sexy American Girlfriend.” She was so nice. Pinky even took a quick selfie with Debbie and Liane! I love it!
Sixteen Candles is one of my favorite movies so it was so cool that Debbie Pollack was there.
Then we did a lap, checked out some vendors, I found a Raiders of the Lost Ark lp and some original Batman Lobby cards which was really cool.
Chris AKA the Autograph Dog was there with some awesome signed photos. If you’re heading down I suggest checking out his table if you’re in the market to buy some nice pieces. Tell him I said hi if you do!
We then headed over to see Katherine Helmond. I admit I was freaking out a little inside. She had some awesome photos, so I bought one of her cast photos, and also got my Brazil counter stand signed.
Can I just tell you, what a treat it was to meet Katherine. Seriously, She was a nice and kind as you would expect her to be. I mentioned how I hated that Soap ended on a Cliffhanger and Katherine said, “You know, I told them, don’t end it like that, and you know what they said, no one will remember!” I said, “Well, it’s 35 years later and we remember!”
We also talked about Who’s the Boss?, and her other projects. She was so sweet and meeting her was an honest to God thrill. I’m still excited.
Pinky and I then went over to meet Danny Pintauro. He was very cool as well. We chatted about the show and he mentioned that he can’t really do these shows but because Katherine was here he really wanted to come. He said that Katherine didn’t even recognize him at first because of his beard and being so grown up.
It was a really fun evening and it was even better because I got to hang out with Pinky!
If you want to check out the show and you’re in the LA area, it’s Saturday at the Burbank Marriott.
Until next time kids…
