I always get so excited when I see a new article from Ms. Pinky Lovejoy! And today, is no exception. Pinky loves and I do mean LOVES her dog Sammy and when she spied Steven Tyler at a charity event, well lets just say all bets were off!
Steven being the cool rocker dude that he is really showed how awesome he is to his fans! I was very impressed!
Check out Pinky’s encounter with Aerosmith frontman and American Idol star Steven Tyler after the jump!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here to tell you about my recent encounter with mega superstar and American Idol judge, Steven Tyler. Now, this may come as a total surprise to you (read: it won’t be a surprise at all), but I was never really a “hair band” loving type of girl. Give me The Cure, give me Depeche Mode, give me Duran Duran all day long, but “hair bands?” No, thank you. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, a “hair band” is a term used to describe bands who typically play a combination of heavy metal and hard rock. Nope, not for me.
Sure, I mean, there are times when I’ve been known to bust a pink move and can get downright funky (did I just say funky?) with the right rockin’ tune. But, overall, it’s not my scene. Still, who can deny the omnipresence of rock legend Steven Tyler? I mean, I might not be wearing acid washed jeans, teasing my hair with Aqua Net, or lining up overnight for a ticket to an Aerosmith show, but I fully respect and appreciate his work.
I even know a bunch of their songs – “Crazy,” “Love In An Elevator,” and “Janie’s Got a Gun” to name a few. See, I AM hip (now I’m saying hip? WTF). Actually, now that I’m looking up Aerosmith songs, I seem to know way more than I’d previously thought, so maybe I’m cooler than I alluded to. Ha!
Anyway, about a month ago I was at a charity event (the same one where I lost my mind over my True Love, Ricky Schroder) with my adorable puppy, Sammy, and saw Steven Tyler about to leave. As he didn’t look like he was going to be able to make it over to the fan area (since they’d sequestered us behind the valet where no one could even see us), a bunch of fans made their way across the street to try and meet him. When we first got there, he was deep in conversation with a friend, so we waited for their convo to end. Once it was over and Steven took a few steps toward a car, the chaos began. People pretty much lost their minds. Fans that had been somewhat orderly all day long suddenly became crazed to get a piece of Steven. It didn’t look good in terms of getting a picture, but I patiently waited for the chaos to die down with Sammy safely tucked in my arms. Sadly, it never did, so I made my way up to him to try to get close enough for a picture. Luckily, Steven is a dog lover and in the midst of people throwing 8” x 10” pictures up for him to autograph and trying to take pictures with him, Steven looked down at Sammy and said, “What kind of dog is that?” and then he leaned down and kissed him.
That’s right, STEVEN TYLER KISSED MY DOG. It was the sweetest thing ever. I mean, we were literally surrounded by people all clamoring for a piece of this man, yet he remained completely calm and took the time to chat with me about my dog. LOVE IT!
The funniest part about the whole thing was that he was being kinda picky about what he signed and was like, “I’ll only sign for true fans!” I’m not sure how he’d prove if someone was a true fan, but no matter.
Despite my saying I’m not a “hair band” girl, I do really like Steven Tyler. I think he’s mesmerizing to watch (I can’t believe how big his mouth gets when he sings!) and I enjoy his humor on American Idol. In fact, I really like seeing that whole side of him on the show.
It’s refreshing. In person I found him quite beautiful – almost like a porcelain doll – which is odd because I don’t think he’s classically good looking, but he does have interesting features, great hair, and a remarkable sex appeal. I’m not going to lie – he’s got it going on (OK, that is IT for my cheesy references today, I promise).
